this year? the only time i know of that a head coach came in and won a championship was that Larry guy who came into Miami after their championship coach left for another job but left the cupboard full of championship players.
and even though i believe in brian kelly, he is forced to put together a hodge podge team with lots of talent. in other words, he does not have continuity. championship teams are teams, and it takes awhile to become a team.
i just don't get why you can['t enjoy the season knowing we will have a good football team that we are proud of this year and know that we are progressing towards playing for championships real soon.
this year will be a lot like saban's first year, imo - winning record, a team that plays with discipline and never gives up. a team we can be proud of for giving the full effort, and the same for the coaching staff.
Geaux Tigers!

If I can find a single person in the world who thinks we will win the national championship this year, I refer him to you post.
Looking forward to the season and seeing LSU play well.

How do you use you’re both correctly and incorrectly in the same sentence when it’s the same word?

This is a considerably more talented team than Sabans first year.
Although 9-3 I think is a realistic year. I just want to be competitive and watch good football.

I haven’t seen one person on this board post crap like that you are Babbling about.
Most of us fans have been discussing this is not going to be a championship year and we are perfectly fine with it but the team is improving and the football program as a whole has improved.
you are making up shite to bitch about

Why did you start another thread about not winning a national championship this year? You did not get enough down votes in the other one? Bama should be the only game we are not favored to win. People saying 7 and 8 wins is a good first year have accepted mediocrity. We won 6 game last year with horrible coaching. 10 wins in the regular season is where your expectations should be. 100 million dollars for 6, 7, 8 wins isn't going to cut it. This isn't aTm.

8 is on the optimistic end and would indicate Kelly did a pretty good job.

So you think that the coaches and players will start the season thinking and expecting to lose games? I haven't heard Brian Kelly stand up and say "Yeah, this is my first year, we have new players and we're gonna lose games because of it." So, if they don't expect to lose games, then why the hell should I? Maybe they will lose 3 or 4 games, but I don't walk into the stadium or turn on the TV hoping anything less than winning the damn game.

That’s an unreasonable expectation after a complete rebuild and questions at o-line and quarterback. A 7-5 season should be acceptable for any LSU fan this year. 8-4 is a very good year. 9-3 and fans should be ecstatic.
Saying 8-4 is the floor is pretty ridiculous with so many toss up games this season.

Being an LSU "fan" and saying and believing this is what's ridiculous.

We are playing for a championship. We just likely won't win it this year.
There's still the Boot and the Magnolia bowl this year too. Time to bring those home for good.

So even though we finished the year with 30 something scholarship players and Kelly had to completely overhaul every part of the program you’re expecting, at worst case a top 25 finish. Since 8-4 is the “floor”, that means yall think 8-3 is likely which is a top 15 finish.
I hope it happens, but it’s totally unreasonable for any fan to expect that in the 1st year.

From the team perspective: If you’re not starting the season with the expectation of winning the championship and being the best team in the country, then don’t play. What’s the point? Only a twerp that rode the bench in sports goes into a game thinking they’ll lose and accepting that. The team’s expectation should be to work hard and win every game.
From a fan perspective: Yes, I don’t think we will win every game and win the championship. But that’s not to say we should accept mediocrity because “it’s a first year head coach, new players, and implementing a new scheme”. Those are just excuses. This team is talented, despite what other fans and media tell you. In fact, I truly think it’s at least a top 4 team in terms of talent in the conference, loaded with experience and leadership.
