Nowhere near a consensus.

and that baker is some genius that is going to put it together with all these new players.

Because that is pretty likely.

I wonder if the fact that LSU's defense moved up over 50 positions from last season and the offense was #1 last season?

Imagine irrational loud opinions on tRant. Whoever heard of such a thing

Sloan had no rhythm at all in his calling, especially in the red zone. There was no adjustments once the game got going.

Baker >>> Sloan

You get no arguments from me. The run every 2nd down towards the end of the season was pathetic as well. He needs to get better, alot better, but he's not beyond help.

obviously those numbers don’t tell the whole story

Sloan took over the #1 offense
Baker took over the #108 defense

Sloan did lose 3 first rounders

he still probably has more talent than Baker.

We were #108 total D in ‘23. He moved us up 52 spots in one season. We regressed offensively. I don’t want to move on from Sloan just, but Baker definitely had the better year.

Over the entire season, we ran the ball 41% of the time on 2nd down.

In the second half of the season, we ran the ball 43% of the time on 2nd down.

In the last 3 games, we ran the ball 39% of the time on 2nd down.

We were nowhere near as run-heavy on 2nd down as people seem to think.

Sloan just needs a running game to work with. He'll be fine. He wasn't working with the caliber of receivers as the years prior, either.

He wasn't, but his play calling had zero imagination a lot of the time. And Kelly got involved down the stretch for a reason.

Just curious, how many Fr have put up #s like his in the history of CFB?

There are high school coaches That could have made better adjustments than that

it was a perfect storm. We lose our LG and they destroyed us up the middle after halftime.

And, they put a running QB in the game and we didn't have the quickness to stop him, that night.

Delusional fans don't realize our defense was bad all year

Now go back and look at the ratings for the defense in 23, when we had pretty much the same players as this season, but with more talent on the DL. Baker went from 90-100 across the board in 23 to 50-60 in one season with the same guys plus 3 portal guys who weren’t world-beaters and 6 true freshmen getting PT.

You are a fricking imbecile.

Where were we in Red Zone offense and what was our percentage of TD's to FGs in the Red Zone compared to the national average?

I don't have any numbers in front of me, but what I remember from 2nd down runs is that it routinely got us off schedule even when 1st down was effective. I'm no genius and I can't put my finger on the tell or key, but I could call run and the l location about 3/4 of the time. I'm sure opposing coaches are better than me and it reflects on our RBs getting tee'd off on.

I agree with you but it felt like 2nd down hurt worse even though 1st down wasn't great.

I’m still more disappointed in the Bama game. You had two weeks to put a plan together to limit Milroe’s running. He was held under 20 yards rushing in four games and they lost 3 of those 4. Milroe had his biggest game all year running the ball against LSU and exceeded the rushing yards that he had in the ‘23 matchup.

You can plan all you want, everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.

We simply don't have the personnel to stop an elite runner at quarterback, it has nothing to do with the "plan" or coaching.

The majority of CFB runs on 2nd and long, the fact that our fanbase believes this is a Sloan thing is a huge indictment on the intelligence of the fanbase.

Hard to blame the red zone struggles on playcalling IMO.

An interior offensive line prone to busts, no running game, and a pocket passer really limits what you can do in the red zone.

Right. A defemsive coach can come up with correct game plan or scheme to slow down or stop what an offense is doing but if the players aren't able to do their part by executing, it's all useless.

This is somewhat overblown here IMO. It's like everyone forgets that Kelly did the same with Denbrock in 2022.

The fact is that no one here can accurately judge playcalling, I trust BK to make the judgment and make the necessary moves.
