I think it has alot to do with how Lane and his staff address it. If they come out and say that the #7 and #18 are important to LSU history, acknowledge that its lost some of its luster, and push to restore the culture that makes #7 and #18 special, then it's more than worht it. We remember who we were so we understand where we've come from and learn from our mistakes. If we aren't going to do that, then we should just let the tradition go.
I could go either way with retiring numbers, but 2 more Heismans would be awesome and I welcome that problem.

I wonder if this changes anything.
If I had any concerns, it was that the recruiting class was going to fall apart, the defensive staff would get smoked, and those things might have made us look weak before the portal opened. I feel like we killed the recruiting class considering what transpired over the last month, kept Blake in a maneuver that I figured impossible, and we're primed to splurge in the portal. If I could see us run the ball down someone's throat, even if it's an Ivy League ir Junior High School for one drive, I'd be fully ready to let my heart be open to be hurt again. Like hurt alot.

It was Kyle Williams. Playing resume at LSU and Buffalo was elite. Coached in Ruston at LHSAA level.
I have zero inside scoop or observation in real time. I feel, though, like the output so far has been what tAlignment was supposed to look like.
I have no idea what the right answer is, but I'm already drinking to prelube for kickoff.

I'm pretty sure that we've been after this guy before. I think he was a possibility when Bo Davis came over. He's considered an elite position coach and a dynamite recruiter. We all love Kyle Williams, but it seems like he is ready to do other things.
I can't wait to feel the energy change when they come out onto the field for the first time. That kickoff. I am curious if we try to schedule a Week 0 game prior to Clemson. I didn't realize that we currently only have two non-conference games scheduled. Truthfully, we may have all 12 opponents selected and I just suck at research.
Not at all advocating to fleet him up to DC for us, but I'm curious to know if Corey is happy being a lifetime position coach. Nothing wrong with that, but I wonder if he ever starts to reach to coordinate. I'm happy with him staying where he is and propping up DBU.
That's fair and I don't consider them 1 for 1 swaps. Personally, I wouldn't be disappointed if they were both involved somehow.
I think if you're gonna hit yourself and take your shirt off, there's no better place than the DL or LB room. I know that he doesn't coach the OL and we just made a hire, but I'd love to see our OL with that kind of nasty streak. I'd be happy to see him back.
I don't hate that. I've always been a big Kyle Williams fan, but there's usually fire where there is smoke (him not wanting to coach in college and go back to be with his kids).
I agree. Everybody loves Tyrann. I just brought O up as a known commodity that's interested, the devil you know. Tyrann would be so important for New Orleans, though.

Coach O vs. Frank on the staff

I understand that Coach O and Frank obviously coach different position groups. With that being said, would Coach O being on the staff make up for Frank leaving with regards to recruiting the state? Does Coach O being better at coaching his position also a plus, assuming Kyle doesn't stay? I understand that Coach O is also polarizing on the board.
If I was betting my retirement fund, I'd take OU, but I hope we can find lightning in a bottle.
I don't really mind the thought of a Sumrall, but it just feels like it'd never happen. I'd love for someone to earn their big boy salaries here and latch on for the long term.
I would assume that Saban would influence him this direction because of the potential, but I don't know anything. I think he may have to endure a year or two of middle of the pack finishes here, but his hiring may spark a recruiting and transfer portal frenzy. Saban wasn't a super sexy hire for us at the time, so I have no idea what a knockout hire at LSU looks like. I don't think that BK Elias ever considered that by most. I remember pulling into San Diego for a port call and seeing the hire and being mostly numb to it. I'd be on board to be hurt to see what Lane's potential could be.
I remember reading that 5 or 6 HS championship games were played on that field the same week. Don't know when Florida does HS playoffs but that seems late in the year. Either way, it was trash.
I don't have any numbers in front of me, but what I remember from 2nd down runs is that it routinely got us off schedule even when 1st down was effective. I'm no genius and I can't put my finger on the tell or key, but I could call run and the l location about 3/4 of the time. I'm sure opposing coaches are better than me and it reflects on our RBs getting tee'd off on.

I agree with you but it felt like 2nd down hurt worse even though 1st down wasn't great.
