This is like John and Jesus.
Jefferson getting all the play right now but Shep's came before it an will be greater than it.

LSU declared Shep ineligible

so shep can't play? expect beckham to have a chance to make some plays against oregon.
most sets will include randle, boone, and/or wright. also peterson to split out. beckham will be in the rotation though.

i thought his infraction occurred before we were put on probation so we were in the clear on that one?

A proper response to an infraction. But a response nonetheless.
I fear this story is like a tsunami. It's coming.

The infraction did. But, if LSU played Shep against Oregon or anybody else and it later turned out he was ineligible then LSU would've been playing an ineligible player while on probation. That's why they're going to have to be extremely careful here.

Yeah, I remember some talk on here about that. Hope it's true, cause if so, we dodged a major bullet by a few months.

So how long will it take LSU to appeal this to the NCAA?
Posted on 8/25/11 at 4:09 pm to MightierThePenIs
LSU is sitting Shep just so they will not have to call games into question should anything come from his eligibility issues. No biggie.

I know...I know...I know...I'm gonna get blasted for this, but I'm reeling right now.
This should teach us a lesson...what lesson is that you may ask?
When dealing with the NCAA you're better off if you just pay your player $200,000 and stop doing hideous stuff like paying for some hotel lodging or having one of your players live with his girl friend or...or...something tragic like discuss your situation with one of your teammates.

Shep's deal is the same as Dez Bryant, it's a player eligibility issue and not a program problem. As long as he doesn't play in any games until the NCAA decides he's eligible, nothing more will happen to LSU. He may miss 1/2 a season, whole season, whatever, but that's it.

This. The football program is already on probation thanks to a former member of the coaching staff.

NCAA ruled on cammy cam within a week. So what's the hang up here?

Seeing how Shep was only living their since spring, there wouldn't be much of a case against the previous two seasons.

Per LSU.net
BATON ROUGE - LSU wide receiver Russell Shepard has been declared ineligible by LSU for violation of an NCAA rule, it was announced Thursday.
LSU will seek reinstatement for Shepard but he is expected to miss a number of games until the reinstatement can be considered by the NCAA. He can continue to practice with the team.
Shepard has been found by the NCAA and LSU to be in violation of Bylaw 32.1.4. Shepard was determined to have discussed an NCAA inquiry with a teammate who was scheduled to meet with an NCAA representative and his actions were deemed to have violated NCAA protocol.
No timeline has been determined for the reinstatement process.

SO I guess he is in trouble for "coaching" a potential witness or the appearance thereof, not actually the living arrangement (yet).

The presser said it was because he conferred with a team mate about things before a meeting.

They need to move DeAngelo back to WR and go w/ Clement/Joseph @ TE.

Germans, but yes. The NCAA doesn't like being lied to or having you manipulate something. Aske Dez Bryant, Bruce Pearl, etc.
