and he said the f back move was a "joke".

is this a total miss by the recruiting services or are our coaches misusing him?

He's an incredible athlete. He was a man among boys at WR at the UA AA game.

Either Mike Dellocono is a moron, or the coaches are morons.

But he's a very good football player.

Might be a wait and see because we all haven't forgotten RS10.

But right now, with this staff, it's very possible he's getting lost in the clusterfrick.

We had a plethora of safeties in the offseason, they battled it out.

Paris
Battle
Monroe
Delpit
Lewis
Stevens
Harris Jr.

That's 7 safeties.

Stevens wasn't in the 2 deep going into fall (Paris/Delpit + Battle/Monroe) and of course he wants to play so the move to WR made some sense to get him on the field in some capacity. He played WR in high school so it wasn't anything new. As we can still tell, we weren't especially great at WR coming into this season. Gage is fricking starting, Anderson was suspended and the young guys just weren't stepping up as much as they wanted. So why not put Stevens there?

He got a tiny bit of time on the field at WR, then one week he inexplicably gets thrown at F-Back. That is completely unexplainable. It seemed just plain desperate in a way.

Now he's back at safety due to the injury to Paris. I would guess he's now in the 2-deep there. Delpit/Stevens, Battle/Monroe. That makes sense again.

I know that Saban REALLY wanted Stevens at Bama. Getting him was a big win for LSU.

Obviously either:

(a) he hasn't picked up on the defense as fast as Delpit or

(b) Delpit is even better than initially thought;

but it's not a case of Stevens "not being a very good player.

Mike Dellocono is a bozo who is a holdover from Jimmy Ott's past radio gigs

Dellocono didnt say he thinks Stevens isnt good, he said "the coaches think"....

Our coaches are complete morons, so he may be right

At one point our old coaching staff thought Welter was better than Beckwith......

Very good post.

Now, I think we may need to prepare ourselves that the 5 star safety may not end up being a first round type of player. That's what the expectations were on Stevens.

In other words, while Dellocono is overstating his position, there is probably some truth to it. This is a kid that wanted immediate playing time...wasn't going to get it at DB, and was moved in an attempt to allow him to play (and presumably make him happy) He wasn't able to make an impact there, so it's back to Safety with development over time the plan.

Is it bad this is the first time I've ever heard of Mike Dellocono?

My instincts say this is someone who looked up Stevens stats and decided to write a story and who has never seen the kid in his life.

I personally don't want them to find "his spot". I want LSU to have it's own Woodson, including the Heisman.

I have no problem with the experimentation, right now. While a freshman. And hey, if he makes an impact along the way- great. But that's just this year. Freshman, new OC, new system... everybody is groping around some (at a minimum, obviously some much more than others). Next year better be a different story.

I didn't know who he was but I heard it this morning. Not sure if Mike Dellocono is an idiot but he was spot on this morning about Jacoby Stevens and the coaches. HE DIDN'T SAY STEVENS WAS BAD!! He wondered if the coaches thought he was bad due to the dumb moves they are doing with him.

More than anything he was using it as a way to show how schizophrenic Oregeron is running things. He even said he felt sorry for Jacoby.

I don't think the coaches find him talented. The entire move to F-back earlier this season was the biggest smoke/mirrors bullshite.

Well, these coaches are starting Russel Gage at WR. So I wouldn't put it past them to misjudge talent

Mike is a moron. I wish Hannagriff would just do the show by himself and let someone else deal with those jabronies everyday

Shouldn't be on the radio. 104.5 needs to stop allowing Ott's buddies on the show.

Or his cousin Craig Loston. Big time safety recruit. Had a solid career at LSU but was never as good as advertised.
