too bad he decided to give the fans and administration the big middle finger and bring out that offense in lambeau.

That really did do him in. A lot of his most ardent supporters, ones who mattered, were done with him that day.

12 passes
41 total plays
7 offensive points

The cruel irony is that it was a passing play that did him in in that game.

Makes me wonder how much of this would all be different had Saban just succeeded in the NFL and never gone to Bama.

Les’ ego got a bit big after 07, then winning like we did in 11 up till the title game was further validation of doing it “his way.” (At least in his own mind.) factor in the Perrilloux fallout into conservative offense and poor QB evals, and his stubbornness (which he admitted was his biggest flaw) and there you go. Hard to find a better Sunday-Friday coach tho. No doubting his high character and integrity.

Great coach and ambassador for LSU. I got to watch his teams while I was in school and they weren't scared of anything and would play their butts off for him.

It's unfortunate how it ended, but all good things come to an end. The fact he was able to continue the things Saban started to build, especially being hired at the time he was, was amazing imo. It's a tough job to follow up a GOAT coach like Saban, but he did a damn fine job of it.

Les made Bob Stoops’ arse quit. At least that’s the narrative I’m going with...

NFL pensions are a joke unless you wait until your 55. You get 2k a month if you take it before your 55 and 6k a month if you wait. My uncle played for the rams in the 80’s and he’s my source for this

We all wish that he would evolve but he didn’t. The man is a living legend though and will be remembered forever by a the fans.

Newly retired players (since 1998) receive $5,640 monthly for every year of service.

This is similar to the effect of how perception of a president improves the longer they have been out of office. We tend to forget the things that drove us nuts.

It was the right time to let Les go. He needed a fresh start just as much as we did.

and there it is folks!

how many times have we heard that since 2005?

it became as big a inside joke as LSU ringtones requests in the old days.

I thought Les was very entertaining even in those last few years. The interviews just before going into halftime will always be classics. No matter what question was asked, he was giving us the same answer everytime. An LSU legend told me once,"Les is a retard, but he is our retard." Now someone else can be entertained. I wish him and his family the very best.

NFl pensions are considerably larger for players who got credited years after 2000 than for those in the 1980's.
It is not peanuts.

I miss coach Miles. Piled up the Wins with the exception of one team.
