Everyone bitched for years about the BCS bc a computer determined the 2 teams.
I liked the bcs. Should use it to rank the playoff teams and call it a day.
In 2013 you would have had this as your top 12 before the playoffs.
FSU (13-0)
Aub (12-1)
Bama (11-1)
Michigan state (12-1)
Stanford (11-2)
Baylor (11-1)
Ohio State (12-1)
Mizzou (11-2)
South Carolina (10-2)
Oregon (10-2)
Oklahoma (10-2)
Clemson (10-2)
Judging by this your conference champions were fsu, aub, msu, Stanford and Baylor.
Lsu fans would have hated it. Would have been in the playoffs in 01, 03, 05, 06, 07, 09, 10, 11, and 12 if there were playoffs in the bcs era.

Maybe in Year #1...but I think it's a good thing long term. Having two power conferences with all these teams that don't fit naturally together doesn't feel right. Texas should go back to the big 12 as should Oklahoma and A&M. Same for Oregon, UCLA and USC for the Pac 12. Once teams realize its an easier path to get the the playoffs from their natural conference than where they are, maybe they will realign the realignment and some sanity will come back to college football.

Boise had a TD wiped off plus 2 missed FGs. They held their own.

What game are you watching? Penn State has dominated this game.
Boise had two drives in a row of 12 then 13 plays and got zero points from them late in the game.
They absolutely deserved to be there, and had they not shot themselves in the foot so many times they could have easily beaten PSU.

Let's all live our lives in hindset. The selection is what it is AT THE TIME OF THE SELECTION. It's up to the team to either show up or lay a bomb. Want in? Then EARN it during the year and don't complain or rationalize crappy play that wasn't who we really are. That's what separates good teams that get in from championship teams.

Agreed. I was pointing out that the results on the field imply that most of the SEC would not be favored over Penn St.

Penn State is going to get demolished by whoever they play next

Ok, 'serf' knows. Cancel the games, because there aren't any more surprises left.

Neither did bama who lost to Michigan’s 2nd strong or South Carolina who lost to a mediocre Illinois team. This is not the year to argue certain teams had no business making it when the field in general wasn’t strong this year.

I thought if a few things went Boise State’s way that would have been a much closer game.

Stop just stop.
It’s a 12 team playoff. 12 freaking teams. There were blowouts almost EVERY year in the 4 team and often enough in the BCS. They absolutely earned a spot over the middle of the pack SEC teams
What you’re really advocating for is the complete and final destruction of college football by turning the playoff into the SEC invitational with 2-3 provisional spots open for Big Ten/ Notre Dame. That is the end of college football.
Without using recruiting rankings, the projected point spreads, or “the SEC if just different “ make a case for Bama, Ole Miss, South Carolina.
I’ll save you the time- there is none. I’ll repeat, there is no case for any of the first teams out to be in a merit based playoff system that is not based in a bias that was solidified prior to the season being played.

Back in the old days, pre-BCS, BCS, and 4-team playoff, you never heard anybody complaining that it was a travesty that the 10th or 12th ranked team was overlooked or left out. Why does the NCAA feel like they should be considered now?….those teams are not championship material.

SMU and Indiana went on the road in very hostile environments. Hell Tennessee was believed playoff team and got crushed.

The CFP is too big. 12 is too many. Bottom line is even in a 4 team playoff, there were blowouts. NIL and the portal have spread talent, but still only maybe 3 or 4 teams a year will be true contenders. 8 team CFP, single elimination would be best, but they'll never reduce the number of teams. But hopefully the game quality tells them not to expand it.

Agree, but who should have been in instead of them?
Miami throttled
Bama choked
TN dominated. Who else should have been in?

12 is too many teams. They have to stretch to fill all the slots. Probably need to go to 8 teams.

BS! Who else deserved it? A 10-2 SEC team got destroyed in the first round. Bama, nope! South Carolina, nope! Iowa state, nope!
8 teams

Should be 6 teams - pure seeding based on SOS and SOR
Top 2 get bye
Other 4 play quarterfinals games at higher seeds home stadium
Semis at home stadia of top 2
NC game will rotate among traditional NYD major bowls
Rose
Sugar
Orange
Cotton

Boise State and Penn State were in a battle until 5 minutes in the game. They belonged more than any of the playoff games so far.
Idiot posters just look at the final score, without context. Boise won the game statistically - 4 turnovers and 2 missed FGs hurt.
