Uh the engine sits inside the nose. Can’t really fall off.

I’m pretty sure the engine laying in the road is a clue.

Gotta be. FAA requires regular inspections on rental planes every 100hrs. I’d imagine a mech would have caught any corrosion/missing hardware.

The house in the background is 1/4 mile from the landing strip. That engine didn't fall out. The pilot pulled back too soon, crashed and the engine went rolling.
Similar to this crash:

WBRZ got it correct"
Single-engine plane crashes shortly after taking off from Gonzales' Louisiana Regional Airport
https://www.wbrz.com/news/single-engine-plane-crashes-shortly-after-taking-off-from-gonzales-louisiana-regional-airport/

GONZALES — A single-engine plane crashed early Tuesday morning shortly after it took off from Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales, officials told WBRZ.
According to Gonzales Fire Chief Preston Landry, the Cessna C210, piloted by a 74-year-old Ascension Parish resident, crashed about half a mile from the airport's runway.
FlightAware data shows that the flight took off just before 5 a.m. The flight, the tracking software says, ended less than a minute later.
Landry added that, when crews arrived around 6 a.m., the motor was found about a hundred yards from the plane and the plane itself was upside down in a field. The pilot was walking around and only had minor injuries when authorities arrived, Landry added.

That's what happens when you buy a plane off Temu.

Should be a quick investigation.

Fanfrickingtastic... as if three putting every fricking hole isn't bad enough, now I have to watch for falling plane engines when I'm on the golf course.

The Lakes Course had a par three that backed up at the end of that runway. I doubt it was possible, but it felt like a high iron shot could have caught a plane on final approach.

74 and he crashes a plane upside down and walks away.

apparently his decades of flying experience didn't remind him to check the engine to make sure it doesnt FALL OFF!
I hate to criticize a senior citizen, but WTF is a 74 YO fossil doing flying an airplane?
Two stupid statements there. First, pilots don’t check to make sure their engine is secure. Each plane has a checklist, and that’s not on them. The plane goes through an annual inspection. That’s where these things are supposed to be found.
And each pilot gets a medical certificate every year or two, depending on what sort of flying he’s doing.
This pilot was even luckier

This is how I imagine the ATC dialogue--
Plane: BTR Departure, this is Cessna 84 Uniform.
ATC: Go ahead, 84 Uniform.
Plane: (In a million dollar, cool as a cucumber voice) Coming out of angels 2, uh, we just had the engine kind of fall off.
ATC: 84 Uniform, are you declaring an emergency?
Plane: (Losing cool at last) YOU'RE frickIN A I'M DECLARING AN EMERGENCY!

Just a guess, but I would be looking for that other blade and how far away it was found from the rest of the wreckage.
