Skenes jersey was different last night

Watching the replay this morning, I noticed that Paul Skenes uniform was slightly different from his teammates.
The LSU players sported an American flag on their left sleeve, and an SEC patch on the right sleeve. Then, on the front left shoulder, they wore a College World Series patch. However, Paul didn’t have the CWS patch on his jersey.
Not a big deal, but anyone know why he did not wear the CWS patch?

The CWS has a Paul Skenes patch that they’re placing on all CWS equipment

CWS doesn’t have enough money to afford advertising space on the best pitcher in the country.

Paul Skenes determines what goes on his jersey. If Paul Skenes doesn't want the patch, Paul Skenes doesn't wear the patch.

I never noticed, but it was great to hear the story about how Skenes got #20. It just adds to the character and maturity of a 21 year old young adult. To pick up the phone and call the family of a deceased former player and say he wanted to wear his old # is class!
I wish we had that kid for one more year! Great player and even better person and leader.

Admittedly, I don’t know the story or history here.

These fantastic men deserve to be remembered by all Americans because of their willingness to sacrifice their lives for our country. While playing baseball at USAFA, Travis wore 20 and Nick wore 25. In honor of these men, I wore 25 when I played this past summer with Team USA and I now wear 20 at LSU.

Maybe he did not like the way it felt on his uniform during warmups?
Maybe he thought it changed the way the jersey stretched and felt awkward or would change his mechanics.
Seems far fetched but if he said it felt awkward they would probably remove it.

Probably didn’t want to change anything that might affect his pitching motion. The patch may have made the jersey tight or heavier in that area. Or just didn’t want change for consistency purposes

The CWS patches aren’t sewn on so it probably fell off.

might have sweated through his first jersey or something

I never liked patches on my jerseys. They actually weigh enough to feel noticeable and make a difference. I would have them on jerseys that I would wear to events and stuff outside of playing

I feel bad for giving this it’s 21st upvote, staying at 20 would have been fitting

Wilkie died training in a F-38 while becoming a fighter pilot. It was a bad landing incident.
The level of risk faced everyday by so many members of our military is something most people don’t get. They think that if they aren’t deployed they are safe and for a lot of jobs that’s not true.
Hell, my son has had multiple near death experiences (crashes, bad landings, clipped a building, clipped trees, and more) while training than you can imagine.
His unit trains like they fight which means a life lived right on the edge.
Hats off to PS for keeping that guys memory alive.

I don't know about his jersey but I noticed he had the California flags stitched onto his glove. I hadn't noticed that before

I’m sure you are proud of your son, but how do you even function knowing this as a parent lol

Accept that when its time for your ticket to be punched its simply time. He is surrounded by some great warriors and loving what he does.
The "funniest" part is when I was in the military I had a pretty on-the-edge job and now that I am the parent involved my dad gets a pretty good kick out of it.
