but so was the opener against WMU when he threw 98 pitches.

we're not comparing the season opener when we didn't know what Skenes had or who he was with the SEC tournament when we know he's a beast

OK it sounds like somebody's trying to imitate a sports journalist writing a headline.

Just say Skenes will pitch tomorrow.

"Gets the Nod" - WTF is that supposed to mean.

It will only need to be 7.0 IP because the game will only last 7 innings. 12-1 final score.

It means he is going to pitch tomorrow. Have you never heard that phrase before?

It's a common term and nothing perverted at all.

To spell it out, it's like a nod of the head from coach to the pitcher that conveys you're up next. Wait, nod and head, might be perverted after all.

90 pitches. Divided by 3... 30. Let's say we are scoring... Carry over the 1...

And final line.

9 innings, 28 Strikeouts (damn ball got away on one), 1 walk, 1 hit

Everyone with a brain confirmed this

He could have planned a Floyd then Skenes starts in the regional. If so, it would have been reasonable to switch them this weekend and limit the pitches of Floyd, who would be on short rest.

It’s a colloquialism that means “he was chosen”. But you already knew that, didn’t you?

For the record, all of you people that debated Skenes not pitching at all, or pitching on short rest, are idiots. Skenes was/is always was pitching on Thursday.

Waaaaay to early to say that.

Skenes is the right man for tomorrow, but Arkansas isn't exactly a liver salad sandwich.

I agree.

There was a small chance IMO that Coleman starts tomorrow if TAMU won.

But is was always Skenes/Floyd next 2 games.

I'm going to make a joke here, so plz understand. When does Cleavon get the ball?

2nd definition of “nod” as a transitive verb:

quote:

to bring, invite, or send by a nod

I'll ask this - and sorry if this true. Getting a nod is like you said.

It's weird when for him to use it that way in a post.

He didn't mean it that way.

The way I always thought of it was, like a nod from the coach. Like a nod from the head. You know like “you’re up” or “your next”. Hence the “nod”

Pitch him to win and stay in winners bracket, too difficult to come out of losers bracket and wear pitching staff down before regionals
