Skenes and Holman's first three starts at LSU

Jay Johnson is a maestro at finding aces in the transfer portal. Though three starts at LSU:
Paul Skenes: 3-0, 0.50 ERA, 0.50 WHIP, 18.0 IP, 36 K, 3 BB, .100 OBA
Luke Holman: 3-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 18.0 IP, 30 K, 2 BB, .133 OBA

I vote we enjoy Holman for who he is and not try to compare him to Skenes.

It’s a tradition here at LSU to unfairly compare players and argue for no reason. It’s how this board stays in business.

They are two different types of pitchers who (at least for now) are getting similar results in an LSU uniform. That alone is enough and should be fun to watch for any Tiger fan.

Both bring a mental toughness to their pitching games also its not all about fastballs these pitchers both keep hitters guessing. I love watching these two pitch.

It’s not unfair to compare Holman to Skenes. And it’s okay if he falls short of that.I appreciate the OP’s effort and am curious how it plays out. I said earlier in the year that it would not surprise me if we end up with as good a “Friday Night” record this season as we had last season. I would not expect the Omaha heroics that we got with Skenes, though.

Holman is off to a great start. Impressive work so far to even be compared to Paul Skenes who was one of the best ever at the college level.
