I would argue the opposite. With more at large teams making the playoff why would we need to play harder games?

With scheduling so far in advance, really hard to schedule big non conference games and know what team you will be playing in 5-7 years anyways.

Just mirror Alabama OOC or Any Norte Dame opponents every year. Works for them.

I’m shocked at the number of people that want to keep the playoff number low which is exactly the wrong way to add significance to the regular season.

You and OP must live in opposite world.

Just like in basketball and baseball I assume the strength of schedule will become a bigger factor. That is a three loss team who played a very tough schedule might be deemed more deserving of a spot than a 1 or 2 loss team that played a shitty non-conf schedule.

And if you win those games the committee will factor in the head to head result. Imagine being on the bubble and we beat another bubble team.

None of those teams are cupcakes. What the frick are you talking about? LSU isn’t playing Directional State University. They’re playing ASU and Utah and fricking Clemson. The worst team on there is Maybe UCLA and they’re a Pac12 team, not some FCS school.

I think we should schedule how we have always scheduled. 1 good OOC game and an SEC schedule should easily get us in top 12...i wouldn't weaken the schedule bc we also want home playoff game if not getting a bye

That seems like the opposite logic for an SEC team.
Since 2000 SEC teams have by far the most OOC wins against ranked teams. No other conference comes close to the SEC in that regard.

I don’t think anyone in their right mind keeps a one loss and even possibly a 2 loss LSU out of a 12 team playoff

There will be three loss teams in a 12 team playoff.

I don’t give a shite what they gotta do, UT owes us a return trip! Those mother frickers aren’t getting off easy after that petty shite they tried to pull on us in 2019. Don’t think we forgot.

Typical UT, they can’t beat you on the field so they do anything they can to get an edge. Try again.

If we're not in the top five I'd just as soon miss the playoffs, because we will get creamed.

False. In 2018, we would have won our first playoff game for sure.

Horrible attitude.

Y'all do understand about half the teams that get in, could win it all, right?
Remember LSU in 2001, 2005, 2006 etc? UGA in 2007, 2012?
Or, how about Alabama 2019- I don't care about rankings released afterwards, you know full well that a 10-2 Bama team that played LSU within a TD slips into the field.

There have been plenty of times a team gets "eliminated" early, because they haven't fully hit their stride, or they had a loaded schedule. They end up 10-2, but nobody wants any piece of them in the postseason.

The big argument against isn't that everyone will get creamed, it's that sooner or later, one of these teams will win, and an undefeated team will win a game or 2 but lose in the final. "It's not fair, they shouldn't have even been there, we should have the trophy".

“There will be three loss teams in a 12 team playoff.”

And there will be 10 three loss teams arguing for the final playoff spot instead of 2-3. It’s going to be a fricking mess and it will only reduce the product. Terrible idea moving to 12, anymore than 6 is a mistake.

By who? The way Alabama looked against Clemson, and the way our offense was rolling, I certainly think a rematch with them wouldn’t have been 29-0.

It is going to happen, so quit whining about it.

This means 12 teams will no longer have a bunch of guys opting out before the postseason, instead of 4. LSU generally is near the top of the list of teams guys leave early from, so we should see better play late.

No, don't beef up the schedule. 10-2 in the SEC should be enough to get in most seasons. For us, that's 2-2 against Alabama, Auburn, Florida and now A&M. If we keep the one non-cupcake OOC team we normally schedule, we should be fine.
Should be interesting- the pressure might drop a bit. Losing to Bama isn't the end of our dreams each year anymore, so we might not see a collapse afterwards like we used to see at times. And as for rematches, it would have been interesting to see what we could do the second time around, what adjustments we'd make.
