Is this going to be similar to the NBA "G League".

Players will get paid and we have a twelve team playoff. Temporarily! They can always expand if it becomes lucrative.

In basketball every year we play a tough sec schedule and also schedule multiple tough non conference games.

In baseball every year we play a tough sec schedule and also schedule multiple tough non conference games.

Both of those sports have large playoffs yet we don't schedule cupcakes even with our sec schedule...

Same can be applied to football.

I suppose Saban and Smart are fricking idiots

This Alabama's future schedule FYI:

2021: Miami
2022: Texas
2023: Texas and USF
2024: USF and Wisconsin
2025: Florida State and Wisconsin
2026: West Virginia and Florida state
2027: West Virginia and OHio st
2028: Ohio st and OKlahoma st
2029: Oklahoma st and ND
2030: GT and ND
2031: Arizona and OU
2032: Arizona and OU
2033: VT and Boston College

This is UGA dfuture football schedule:

2021: Clemson
2022: Oregon
2023: OU
2024: Clemson
2025: UCLA
2026: UCLA and Louisville
2027: Florida st and Louisville
2028: Texas and FSU
2029: Texas and Clemson
2030: Clemson and Ohio St
2031: Ohio st and Oklahoma

A three loss team will not have a shot, depending on the season end results of all. A two loss SEC team should still be in contention & a one loss team is in. Not a bad position with one loss. If we finish with one loss from the SEC West, we do not have to play the SEC Champ game and play the eleven or twelve seed at home.

And that scenario has me thinking that maybe, just maybe, an eight team field would be better.

Um, no. Just the opposite. The SEC doesn't have to beef up it's non conference. Would be silly to do so.

In 2025 LSU plays @uga @alabama @clemson

If all of those 3 games are ranked in top 5 and say we beat Bama but lose to uga and Clemson

But play uga again in sec championship and lose that

But all the games were within 7 points.

I guarantee you LSU might have a chance to be in the top 12. It's a super rare scenario but it's a chance none the less.

So Saban is silly for beefing his up? Kirby is silly for beefing his up?

Maybe they are ahead of the pack.

Hell there's a reason they did it

Schools are adding tougher OOC games largely due to complaints from season ticket holders, and the revenue that comes from a big OOC matchup.

At the end of the day, it’s a crap shoot whether those big OOC games help or hurt your chances. The better your chances of getting in based on conference record alone, the more risky those OOC games become. If you win 6-7 conference games (1-2 conference losses) you’d probably rather play cupcakes, because they extra loss will hurt more than the extra win helps.

OTOH, if you lose 3 conference games you probably don’t make the CFP with a cupcake win, so you want a big OOC win to bolster the resume.

It’s not exactly easy to predict this years in advance, hence the reason I said it’s a crap shoot.

Expansion is NOT likely and no credible source is providing any indications it is. Please stop shoveling this horse shite.
