Hilton looks like a gazelle on the football field. He's fast fast and decent size. He just needs reps to refine his craft IMO. If nothing else, he opens up the field for others

Force? So every time we throw down field it is forcing it? Hilton is our long threat. Coming into the season he had the highest career ypc avg on the team at 18.9. In his 2 catches Saturday he avgd 18.0. If he had caught the two mis-timed balls we would all be claiming Bilitnekof Award… of his 24 career catches 5 are over 40 yds. He is our Long ball guy.

Throwing the ball 5 yds over Daniels, Lacy, Anderson, and Thomas head 4 times agame is more forcing it than throwing to a guy who is on the spot but misplays it.

I included Daniels in my comments above. I really like him but Daniels snd Lacy are not getting separation in the long shots. I assume it is due to speed. I really like both as guys we need on the field.

If he can play Guard, then yes.

know he was rusty this past weekend from not playing, but it seems like that’s always the case.

I think he was fed the ball too many times last weekend. At the same time “is always the case” doesn’t really make sense since he has been sitting out for near 3 months. He will get better.

CJ is the hidden key to this offense though. Having him out the second half was painful.

He mistimed two different jumps....get that squared away before we target him. I thought we targeted him WAY too much last Saturday.

Your photographic evidence is not going to cut it. They have a narrative, and they are not going to abandon it no matter how much evidence they see.

That's still quite a few passes to someones first game and with the results we got. He was rusty, he needs to start making some contested catches. No problem working him in the game plan especially before they made a change at QB because they could not move the ball. But, after the QB change we needed to go to who could get first downs. Lacy dropped a couple passes too. We just didn't have a good offensive game by our standards.

If Hilton stays healthy, I think he's gonna end up better than any other WR currently on the team. Legit think he's an All American next year if he can stay healthy between now and then. Just needs reps.

If he can get open, obviously yes. and the jump ball situation will get better the more he plays. I would play more jump balls with 14 on short yardage plays over the middle and not always on slant patterns.

So tired of this "He got two hands on the ball" BS. His hand got hit and made it damn near impossible to catch the ball against Ole Miss last season on the last play.

He was rusty and mistimed his jump on two throws. At some point if that connection doesn't pay off then sure you would have a point but they didn't even force him the ball. They went his way when he was open. He had a miscommunication on 1 route, mistimed his jump on 2, and caught the other two. That connection is going to be fine and he isn't going to be the number 1 option. He might be the deep threat but that is what the offense was missing. Look at the game against Wisconsin. He had a very good game and that kind of threat is what the offense needs. Ability to run after catch with speed and enough speed to stretch the defense vertical, he just needs to time his jump better or run underneath it depending on the pass.

I would expect at least half of the Rant to say give up on him.

And they would be wrong. This thread is stupid.

He had 5 targets against A&M. Who is forcing him the ball? Nuss?

Other targets:

I'd rather each of those 5 people you listed get 1 extra target then.

I have no idea why he was so hyped up. He's in his 4th year and had 22 catches through 3 years with us. It doesn't take that long to shine as a WR at LSU, and if you haven't by now, then you just aren't going to.
I wish the kid the best, but we have plenty other options on this team that are better. I'd rather 6'7" freshman Trey'dez Green get all of Hilton's targets.

What bothers me the most is that we get to the 30 yard line or the red zone… and our offensive play calling is horrible and we have to settle for FG….we drop passes and have running plays that gain 1 yard…

Well for one there were multiple passes where Hilton miss timed his jump badly causing incompletions.

And two LSU really doesn’t have a single receiver that can catch a contested ball. It seems to me they all drop them when they are the least bit defended. LSU has some good WRs, but no All American type WRs.
