Should LSU seek to cancel the Clemson game next year?

Now that the playoff committee has devalued strength of schedule by allowing multiple teams with weak schedules to be in the playoffs, should LSU try to cancel next season's opener at Clemson, knowing that we still have to play Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Florida, Texas A&M, etc..or are strong OOC games good for LSU and college football in general?
At the very least, LSU should revisit future OOC plans to make sure they mesh with current landscape.
Should LSU cancel the season opener at Clemson next year? 56.2% 43.8%
Since there is a lot of interest on this subject today, I figured I start a poll on it.

No but we should schedule a week 0 game as a tune up

Is that what FSU did?

Yes. But only because I’m tired of opening the season 0 and 1 and I don’t have any confidence in Kelly having the team ready for the opener.

No, but Kelly needs to prepare this team for the opener during the offseason.

Statement from Alabama AD Greg Byrne:

Disappointed with the outcome and felt we were one of the 12 best teams in the country. We had an extremely challenging schedule and recognize there were two games in particular that we did not perform as well as we should have.
We have said that we would need to see how strength of schedule would be evaluated by the CFP. With this outcome, we will need to asses how many P4 non-conference games make sense in the future to put us in the best position to participate in the CFP. That is not good for college football.

schedule contracts have severe penalties...

Voted Yes.
Reason: Rest of schedule has 5 potential Top 25 teams. That is enough. 10-2 with that schedule and you don't need a major out of conference win.
Ole Miss
Alabama
South Carolina
Texas A&M
Florida

Not going to happen for LSU.

I'd be good with LSU cancelling every sport they have except for Baseball. Then they could just put all of their nil $$ into 1 program !

If it was an 8-team playoff with only conference champions participating, you could schedule as difficult a team as you want OOC and not affect your chances at making the playoff. It would also make conference championships relevant again.

They didn't play Hawaii, but their week 0 opponent Duquesne did.

No, the tigers should play the best, that’s how you get to be the best.

I don't see a problem with playing the game, but there is no upside. Cancel it and add a mediocre home game against a sub belt team as an opener.

Is Clemson talking about canceling the game? No, they are getting ready for a playoff game. Damn we have gotten soft.

Is this the thread where everyone who was making fun of Lincoln Riley for trying to get out of the LSU game before the season now says that LSU should pussy out of the Clemson game?
