I like the man. I believe he is a good guy and his heart is in a right place, but I have never seen such 'lack of buzz' surrounding the program.

I remember there was a time when I knew every player and we would discuss the games at work non stop, but nobody even cares anymore, nor do we even know they played a game. Sorry, but Trent's got to go. We need a spark. What's y'alls take?

agreed...I have been following LSU for decades and do not remember a time when our basketball program was less relevant...

honestly, all it would take would be for us to stack up a few wins after the regular football season is over...

Who would have ever guessed we'd miss Brady Ball?

for a guy who preaches fundamentals, I have never seen a team play so fundamentally poor.

If we suck again this year, I agree. My question is, what should be deemed an acceptable performance this year for him to stay?

NCAA? NIT? .500+ in SEC play?

Should have cut him loose last year. I think you give him a few SEC games to prove himself. If he tanks, send him on his way early. If he wins 8 SEC games, he gets next year.

I'm not Joe Alleva, though.

He's been given a fair chance. A change could come if this season is another bust.

.500 in SEC play should definitely get him another year

we have 3 LEGIT SEC players on our team. Add in Ricardo and Malik and that's a damn strong tournament team

This team somehow needs to learn how to finish games. They also need to learn how to overcome runs as well. As soon as an opponent starts getting ahead by 10 or so, they can't seem to complete a run of their own.

Put it like this. I'm an decent fan but not diehard. I watch them when they're on TV and go to a few games a year.

I didn't know they had a game today. I didn't know they lost one prior to today.

That's how relevant the BBall program has become.

Fire Trent. Throw 2M at a premier coach. We got the talent in the State and God knows people show up for good basketball teams.

IMO for TJ to get next year there are two recruiting scenarios that would play out that are involved:

Get Ricardo Gathers: Then TJ needs to manage a 7-9 or better SEC record and he'll get next year imo (that SEC record could even be a win lower if he signs Gathers).

Don't Get Gathers: Then he has to go 10-6 or better in the SEC to keep his job, that would at least show he's got a team that can compete in the SEC for the next few years.

About 2 years too late. He should have been let go long ago.

2 years too late? He's only been here 3 years. You want to fire him after coming off a NCAA bid lol

NIH, you don't think:

Hickey
Morgan
Turner
O'Bryant
Hamilton

with Gathers, Stringer, Isaac coming off the bench is a tourny team?

THIS! I'm still worried when LSU has a solid 10+ point lead with about 5 mins to go. But if LSU were to be down by 2 possessions under 3 mins left in the game I think we have no shot at winning!

I agree, I believe we have all the talent in the world to be a NCAA Tournament quality team. Unfortunately the way we close out in the 2nd half is just awful and our coaching adjustments are awful. We look like the Tennessee Football Team in the 2nd half!

For those who have watched this team play this year, they are much improved. The talent level during the past 2 years has ben horrible due to poor recruiting left behind by Brady. Having Ludwig start in SEC play is just sad. Now we have talent on campus but they are young and fresh. I barely recognize the players on the floor and they need some time to gel together. This team will drastically improve over the year and be competitive in the SEC. Also, Trent is playing a much tougher OOC schedule than Brady ever played. I remember when we were dying for a marquee matchup before SEC play.

I'm not saying this isnt a due or die season for Trent cause it is but I think yall should give this team a few more games before making judgement. They are young but very talented.
I think Trent finishes the year with 15-17 wins and SEC play will determine if he stays.
