Do you think that Ole Miss has standing to have a judge declare that someone is not eligible under an SEC or NCAA rule, or must that be brought by the conference or the NCAA?

I think when the AG Liz Murril filed an amicus brief in support of the players yesterday, thay should be a pretty big tell which way this thing is heading

Because most of his decision is probably already written. It's just waiting to be revised based on the hearing today.

at the end of the day - right would be the NCAA simply amending the 5 for 5 rule and allowing the 2022 class a fifth year and allowing (for this one year only) the players who went to the NFL to go back to college

This guy gets it. Think objectively, not like a functional retard.

Seriously - thank you - you have renewed my confidence in Tiger Rant! But to be transparent - I have a little bit of experience in matters like this!

I have been saying since debacle began, eligibility TROs would go away if the NCAA simply amended their rule for the 2022 class and exempted any player who participated in any NFL actions (contracts, mini-camps, preseason, etc). The NCAA is making this hard on themselves for no logical reason OR they’re purposely being silent to force action by the Conferences. The SEC is being arbitrary and capricious by choosing to fight one eligibility rule (NFL players) over another (the Chambliss v NCAA medical exemption). They (the 2022 class and Chambliss) are all eligible or not. The SEC cannot and should not pick winners and losers.

The 19th JDC is a judicial hellhole filled with incompetent Southern Law School judges. It's a joke of a district, the ruling will be automatically appealed. The 19th is a joke.

Amen - even though LSU is not a party to the litigation, IMO I think LSU has an interest in this far beyond a back-up tight end and defensive tackle - Will Wade's entire LSU basketball roster is composed of former professional players - if the SEC wins this case, LSU cannot field a basketball team this season

Maybe so, but Will Jorden is pretty solid despite this.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised for him to just stop everything. Cant play yet, rule cant be enforced, and he decides sometime next week

Not particularly, even if it goes in favor of the SEC, all she did was insert her opinion, and can use it as a platform of "I just support our state universities and state economy, and all workers" that's about the worst she's done... It's not gonna hurt her no matter what the result is

Her position for the state in this case will be used against the state in unrelated civil litigation down the line

Judge Jorden is a solid judge, IMO. I also understand he has told whoever that he is retiring at the end of the term.

Could have said the same thing with an Ole Miss alum judge ruling on the Chambliss case

Exactly.

It's why the SEC is trying so hard to just get the actual schools to agree to certain rules.

To keep from having 100s of cases in local courts with often with contradictory results.
