The recruiting board pretty much destroys this.

well,I'm not going to address this black/white silliness, but one of SFP's meltdowns was when some posters had the audacity to say Rohan Davey meant more to LSU than Russell did.

I believe Davey is a black man.

The rant loves underdog white guys, and the rant loves guys who "had to work harder because they're less talented."

Thus, the Rant likes:

Davey over JR
Flynn over JR
Mauck over JR

Hester over Charles
Hester over Addai
Hester over KW
shite, probably Hester over Faulk

Clayton over Bowe
Reed over Bowe

Hunt over LaRon

There's nothing wrong with it, but that's the way it is.

underdog is definitely a big factor

booty = hype machine

davey = not a hype machine (even though he was a highly regarded prospect)

Okay. But this "rant says" "rant believes" stuff can go both ways.

Should we say "the rant doesn't like Les Miles" ?

Sure are a lot of posts from time to time dogging the guy.

After missing post season play the last two seasons,I'll be happy if the basketball team can play in the NIT.Would that be saying "the rant wants LSU to make the NIT" ?

After losing fives games, what do you expect?

I'd say right now that maybe 15% of the Rant thinks Saban is a better coach than Les, whereas about 75% of the rest of the board believes the opposite. Les is an underdog in regards to Nick, so there you go.

one person made a post the other day suggesting Baton Rouge/LSU host a bowl game.

Within no time someone made a post on the OT saying "The Rant is saying LSU should host a bowl game". Some of the 'the rant says' stuff is BS.

I was one of them. I remember it clearly. To this day, it's the most I've ever been exited about a commitment. He just is not as good as his hype or his measurables. I hope he improves.

Truth is, the Rant is the place where the most new posters, and posters in general, flock to.

There's a very high concentration of tards on the Rants because of this, thus all the generalizations.

Why do people feel the need to start "Rocky is dumb" threads when their happens to be another guy in this class (if he qualifies this time)that seems to be quite the non-scholar?

I believe the reason the rant prefers Clayton because he is from the area, and Hester because he is less talented and is from the area.

Why is it OK to criticize Keiland Williams?

i think it is more along the lines of people telling you "i told you so" after you pumped KW up all last offseason

and you may take it as criticism.

while if you criticize hatch, you're an meanie-head negatiger?

Because people around here thought KW would be all world and has not lived up to the hype.

People expected nothing from Hatch, so he gets cheered for his effort.

I discount anyone who posts anything similar to this. . .

I have no doubt that K-Dub will end up in some NFL team's RB rotation. Someone as agile as he is at his size? CFL? Please.

FWIW - I have spoken to a member of the extended coaching staff and even he says that Williams runs more timid and upright now then his frosh year. He was supposed to be the Reggie Bush of LSU and he's turned into Justin Vincent Jr.

A lot of what I think happens is that people get very focused on trying to "win" these arguments and exaggerate for effect. The result is that people end up saying or suggesting that "Hester sucks" or "KW can't find the hole with a map" when in reality, few really believe these things. Then everybody gets pissed and digs in even deeper for their guy. Also, expectations play a huge role. Josh Booty, for example, is reviled by many even though he became a good player at LSU.

That's how I see it, and for what it's worth, here are my opinions:

JR>Flynn

JR BARELY over Davey (admission of extreme bias here - Rohan is one of my all time favorites)

I used to be strong KW>Hester but no longer question the coaching decisions in '07 given that it was the best offense in LSU history. Hester became one of my all time favorites.

I give Clayton the slight overall edge over Bowe, primarily due to Bowe's struggles with drops (if you're not comparing entire college careers but rather each player at his absolute best, I give the nod to Bowe).
