I have never been the biggest Aranda fan. I remember watching a 30 minute video made by him when he was first hired where he explained his supposedly genius scheme where the OL would have trouble determining who was rushing and who wasn't on a pass play. In years and years I never saw the opponents' offense have that problem other than when a blitz occured and EVERYONE has that problem with blitzes so no big deal there. That was opinion...these are facts. If he wants to stay, OK...if not, great by me. See ya'

LSU ranked 31 in total defense (yards per game) and comparing apples to apples 8th in the SEC...behind GA, FL, AL, KY, TN, AU, A&M. LSU ranked 32nd in scoring defense and 8th in the SEC...behind GA, FL, AL, KY, MO, AU, TN.

Good thing we have your dismissal of a ‘mediocre’ coach.

Not sure you understand what a fact is. Here is a hint your uneducated opinion on what you think you saw is not one

LSU was 6th in the nation in 3rd down defense. His team got off the field. Not to mention he had to play the top 3 offenses in the country not named LSU. None of those other teams you mentioned did. With the majority of those yards coming in garbage time.

You can crap on him all you want.

He just shut down the Defending National Champs and made the potential #1 pick next year look like a backup HS QB, winning us the National Championship.

Not to mention, the development of players that won numerous awards, high draft picks and kept DBU on the map.

He has my respect and admiration for what he did for LSU.

Coming into this season Dave Aranda was the top DC in the country. In every major statistical category he was better than Venables and it wasn’t until midway through this season that Venables last him. This year we had 7 starters out and 5 starters with significant injuries that lasted throughout the first 10-12 weeks of the season. Once everyone was healthy this defense went on a 5 game stretch with 3 of those against top 4 opponents, in championship settings, where we gave up 18ppg. No other defense had a stretch like that this year. Aranda is the best DC in the country and he proved that once again on Monday night. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

I agree with you about Aranda. I've never been a big fan. I always felt like we won a lot of games because we simply had so much more talent than the other team and not because of our coaching on defense. Clemson's defense forced our offense to make some adjustments. That's something Aranda never did. We let offenses run and pass all over us and then we adjusted. I want a DC that's going to force other opposing offenses to make changes or force turnovers. We made way too many average QBs look great and that's not a sign of a great DC in my opinion.

I'd say for a team that averaged 40+/game, it is pretty damn good.

Edit: I knew I had remembered you melting from somewhere

Let's talk about how this year's offense changed opponents pace of play wildly compared to all those great defenses with a run style offense in the past that field goals could keep you in the game. Every team they played tried everything they could to play keep up. Punting wasn't a big deal in the past. This year it was a death blow.
