That is why Ross is needed in the lineup, for defense. But you can't have 3/9 players in the lineup for defense only.

What? That doesn't mean there was any other way to have a chance at the runner than to try and barehand it.

Point being, he gloves it, he has to eat it. Glove to hand doesnt get runner there. His only chance for a play was barehanded.
