Tulane Sports Law thoughts

My thoughts were similar. It would seem to behoove LSU and the state to "stay out of this" to the extent there isn't much of a harm yet the SEC can claim exists. Nothing is guaranteed with courts though.

Why is LSU football and Kiffin being targeted? LSU is not even involved in this local case.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this suit being filed in federal court basically trumps the tro? So lsu would be required to not play the guys until the federal suit is settled right?

Why is this the hill the SEC is trying to die on? Why aren't they complaining to the NCAA for failing to rule an exception or non exception on the matter? Why is the conference not taking the easy route of, "We made a rule, challeneged the overruling, and lost in court. We did what we could. Let's move on now"?

We have free agency. Players can play almost to 3p years old. They get paid more than in the nfl. But THIS is the fricking hill?

They absolutely do not. Every AD and head coach is going to be subpoenaed. The SEC are fools to die on this hill.

Why is he not suing Texas and Mizzou?

I said the exact same thing. Why single out LSU and Kiffin?

Are we going to start prohibiting college athletes from participating in the Olympics next? Or are we just picking and choosing what professional means

Nah, Allen’s had that big bulbous nose like a bullseye tight in the middle; you can’t even hit this guy on the chin because it’s shrunk up and hiding in his neck

Because they know themselves, other conferences, and the NCAA have basically lost control of this modern era of college sports.

They're trying to wrangle some of their power back by making an example of Lane and LSU because he's pretty much the only target that will gain the SEC some favorable public sentiment.

The problem with the TRO is that it doesn't compel LSU and Kiffin to recruit and roster those players in violation of SEC policy.

Also true for any other school.

They are no longer on the roster
according to Jeff Lebby. Once the ruling came down they were let go.

Pretty sure these guys in question will make WAY MORE playing for LSU than they got for their stipend when they worked out with the pros and never saw the field.

Whole thing is a mess but this is a bitch move by the conference. Sankey has the spinal fortitude of a paramecium.

Does anyone know what they want from the suit? Is it just the to punish us as they see fit?
