In short:

8 Conference games
1 non-conference game with power 5 opponent
Single division
2024 only, conference will reassess after the season.

Votes were not there any of the 9 game scenarios because ESPN wouldn't fork over any more money.

Dont see how this will work out long term. has to be some kind of alignment or structure instead of top 2 go to the SEC championship. but thats just my thought

The only way to manage a conference with so many teams and not have long gaps between games against other schools is to do away with divisions.

LSU not playing Bama is just the dumbest shite I’ve seen in some time.

Those are the eight easiest teams. Actual schedules released June 14. But you can count on it favoring Bama, and screwing LSU. It’s the SEC way!

If it’s so hard to manage, why don’t the top 8 in the NFL advance to the playoffs regardless of conference or division?

Is someone on the inside trying to intentionally destroy the SEC?

Why would they? Because the folks that run the SEC are basic short-sighted idiots? SEC screwed the SEC. If I’m head of ESPN, why would I pay more than contractually obligated to? Contract isn’t even that old. One would think there’d be an extenuating circumstances clause in there or something, but I ain’t no damn lawyer.

in the future, if the host school rushes the field, they must pay the opposing school a fine of $100,000 for the first offense, $250,000 for second and $500,000 for third offense

This little gem here wasn't enough to appease Saban to allow Sankey to go to a 9 game schedule? We all know Bama is the school benefitting from that

Eh, that's chump change for Bama. Might pay for Nick's hair dye and teeth whitener.

This is true for an eight game schedule, but not a nine game schedule. With 9 games and 3 permanents, 4 divisions can rotate just as fast as a single division. The difference is you are limited to 4 sets of permanent opponents.

With no divisions SEC championship game no longer needed. Top team is champ. SEC championship game between east and west was just an unnecessary showcase and money grab and not necessarily the top two teams.

If that schedule is accurate, what a pussy cake walk for Bama. Little Nicki was getting treated so unfairly.
