Amazing that people still don't get the difference in Division II and FCS.

Hint: FBS teams DO NOT PLAY Division II teams, ever

The first five are out of order but after that, none of it matters. Saban, Fisher/Smart, Mullen then Malzahn. The other seven SEC coaches have not proven squat yet.

Coach O’s order on this list is based on his performance a decade ago, not on today. That and his funny accent and current relationship with our fanbase. None of these 7 coaches will matter unless their teams win and that’s the big question mark.

If O goes 10-2 or better, next year he’ll be at least 6 on the list. If he goes 7-5 or 8-4, his ranking on this list will be somewhat deserved. If he goes worse than 7-5, he’ll be fired and this list wont matter.

Muschamp and Orgeron are interchangeable really. Both sucked at their first jobs.

Muschamp at least made a Sugar Bowl and won SEC coach of the year at his first job.

O lost to Troy, and Muschamp lost to a D2 school that didn't complete a forward pass.

Not really a favorable comparison for Orgeron since Troy happened at his second job.

Based on his overall history, that slot is deserved and honestly, he should be ranked 14th based on history.

He's been a historical failure as a head coach in his career. Taking over a top 15 program and winning one good game (Auburn last year) and beating up on utterly shitty competition while losing in epic fashion to MSU and Troy still prove who he is.

He literally beat 1 SEC coach that wasn't fired last season. ONE! His other 5 SEC wins came against 5 coaches that were fired for total suckage. In 2016, he again mostly beat up on shitty teams that were historically down.

In the end, this season should be make or break for O.

He likely goes 7-5 or at best 8-4 in the regular season with losses to Bama, UGA, Auburn, and Miami very likely. Also, Florida will be a better team this year under Mullen and LSU barely beat them last year with more talent in the backfield and more depth in the DBs.

That list is legit retarded. Not sure how you can rank coaches who haven't coached a single game at their current school ahead of others who have.

Was O an underwhelming hire? Yes. But let's hold the press on how his story unfolds at LSU based on how he did at OM over a decade ago. It's like no one in the history of the human race has ever improved at his job after taking some lumps. I know people who have crashed and burned in one role at one company, and moved to another company in the same role and flourished. Granted those were some giant lumps for O at OM, but it was also OM.

Rockytoptalk.com? Really? Bet they won't re-rank them at the end of this season.

Sure, if he goes 7-5 you are correct, Geauxgurt. The question is, if he goes 10-2 will you change your view?

Your post uses twisted logic. You cite his previous stint at Ole Miss, which is fair but was a decade ago. And you ding him for MSU and Troy, which is also fair. To me, those are the fair criticisms. The other, that you didn’t mention, is his decision to not go for it on 4th and 1 v. Notre Dame in the bowl game.

But then you fail to give him credit for completely out coaching Malzahn who had a top 10 Auburn team ahead of us by double digits and still got beat by O. And then you somehow fault him for the schedule he was presented. The SEC was down. But let’s not pretend these were easy wins. It’s never easy in the SEC. O went 6-2 last year in the best conference in America, even in a down year.

I’m not advocating for him. But finding fault with everything he does is not good for our program. What I am advocating for is to sit back, cheer for the Tigers and see what O can do in year 2 (or 3 depending on how you view 2016). The experts think we will be mediocre. If we do go 10-2 or better, O will have answered a lot of those critics and we will have a lot of fun next fall as Tiger fans.

If O goes 7-5, there are going to be a lot of people screaming I told you so. However, if he goes 10-2, those same people are going to be real fricking quiet. Some on this board would rather be right about O and watch LSU crash and burn than be wrong and see O achieve success.

Though I think O is a tad bit underrated on this list, it shows why a lot of fans aren't happy with the hire. No reason why LSU shouldn't have a top 3 head coach in the SEC.

Dayum, even Schlinder has Ed O higher than that on his list. Maybe Alleva should have checked craigslist coaching section first. LOL.

Not a big O fan, but preseason coach's lists are at the very bottom of my list of things to worry about.

Noah Taylor wrote this article and for those of you who don’t know who he is, you’re not alone. His bio on the site reads:

quote:

Noah Taylor is a junior at the University of Tennessee and is currently working towards a degree in journalism and electronic media in the College of Communication. He has written for Rocky Top Talk since July of 2017. In addition to RTT, he is a beat writer with the Daily Beacon, freelances at the Daily Post-Athenian in Athens, TN and has also done some freelance work with Saturday Down South.

So I don’t think LSU fans should worry about this shitty list. He ranks Jimbo second and he hasn’t even coached a game in the SEC yet. Outside of Clemson, there is a huge difference between the ACC and the SEC
