So, how does this affect the basketball team/roster?
Posted on 8/25/26 at 6:45 pm to Handsome Pete
Well, it was dumb while it lasted

They can sure fine you for storming a field

It stops him from playing for LSU until he gets a TRO against the SEC.

This era of college sports sucks balls. I was excited for the season but I have a feeling this is all they will talk about, eligibility and NIL.
Posted on 8/25/26 at 6:48 pm to WaterLink
This needs an answer because conveniently nobody seems to be talking about him for some reason
Posted on 8/25/26 at 6:51 pm to Handsome Pete
Alabama must not have signed anyone doing this. Only way this would have passed.

More TROs same basis, same argument, differe t actor, should be same result

Would be devastating by losing Luis, who would be one of the top players in the country. We'll see how this shakes out legally. It is concerning though.

Seems like "Collusion" lawsuits could be forthcoming real soon!
Also, should have made it contingent on other conferences agreeing to this, otherwise a true competitive disadvantage if they are in the portal legally.

Approval by all SEC schools. 16-0 vote.

Well, if our SEC commissioner didn’t have a better name for this situation. He’s so Stankey

It’s a bit odd if Rouse gave the ok to sign guys and then turns around and votes a yes on this.
Lane and Wade didn’t just decide to do this without asking Verge who in turn wouldn’t green light without letting rouse know.
It kind of makes us look dumb that we let people run with headlines for a whole day when none of this happens if verge and Rouse do their jobs correctly and tell Lane and Wade no.
Also a very bad look if they said yes and then today turn coated on their coaches.

The sad thing is there are quite a few people that don’t feel sufficiently stupid enough at this point that their “they should get paid if the schools are making money” position, that they should just shut up.
Clown show era of sports.
And as I have maintained, this on the NFL. They used the NCAA as a feeder league, with no compensation, and are now surprised that people are seeking a better deal in college football sports.
Just like other sports, like the modern NBA scrub is making more than Scottie Pippen, Hakeem, or John Stockton ever did - the modern NCAA athlete has no skin in the game and just concerned with the next contract.
Damn shame.

Is the SEC going to enforce the NCAA rules against Trindad Chambliss and any other SEC players playing under an injunction?
Posted on 8/25/26 at 7:06 pm to Big4SALTbro
Lane forced the issue. he turned into an "either we get them or no one gets them"

Will not affect the 2022 TROs
I'm pretty sure it does for the Louisiana one. Only the NCAA is addressed in that TRO.

I guess it’s possible that he knew verge and rouse didn’t support and they said do it to make an outrage so it gets it banned. I don’t know why we would want to be the poster of that only to fold in a 16-0 vote. Texas did the same thing to sark.

How so? I'm pretty sure the Texas kid never signed a contract; he only went to tryouts. Unless there is more than one there.
