The more they have to explain their decision, the more you know they’re wrong.

There's an old saying that goes: "My mind's made up--don't confuse me with facts." It's not just a trait amongst those in the Pacific NW, but often occurs in the SEC (the highest density historically radiating from west central Alabama).

That's how liberals on the left coast do. They ignore facts, logic, critical thinking. Sorry but those things bleed into football. You know, lack of critical thinking skills

How many Heisman moments did Daniels have this season? You might have to rack your brain. But Penix — who just led the Huskies to their 20th straight victory and an all-but-guaranteed berth in the College Football Playoff — has a Rolodex. Nobody was better this season when it mattered most. Not. Even. Close.

I'd have to rack my brain to find a Penix "Heisman moment" because much like this guy with Daniels, I didn't watch him play.

But no playoff contender has relied on one player as Washington has Penix this year.

Penix has done. He’s 4-0 against ranked CFP teams this year. Daniels is 1-3.

Interesting juxtaposition. If you consider LSU a "playoff contender", which it's fair if you don't, highlighting those games against currently ranked teams:

Penix's stats: 92/144 (64%), 1146 yards, 7 TDs 2 Ints with another whopping 8 yards rushing and 1 TD.

Daniels' stats: 79/118 (67%), 1238 yards, 10 TDs 2 Ints, with another 456 yards rushing and 3 TDs.

So yeah, to the guy's point that Daniels has the stats and Penix has the wins he's not wrong. But Daniels put up better numbers against ranked teams.

Penix also had two games where he scored 0 touchdowns so to say his team relied on him more than any other team relied on any other player is just silly. His team scored 31 points against a currently ranked team without him scoring 1 touchdown. LSU lost a game where Daniels was responsible for 5. But penalize him because of record.

It's also dumb to say that Daniels didn't play in high stakes circumstances. LSU was in play to win the SEC West until the Bama game, which was game 9.

TLDR

Jayden Daniels is superhuman and did everything possible to help his team win every game, but his embarrassing defense could not even run the most basic zone scheme

Michael Penix had a great defense and played mediocre teams, but I’m going to give all the credit to the quarterback for how well the defense played

As a Husky fan,
I felt that Penix was the leading candidate for the Heisman up until the last four games when his production dropped significantly. Daniels is the clear choice.

Good luck next year in Vegas against the evil empire of Troy. I don’t think you SEC fans are aware of how much the rest of the PAC have SC over the years.

I think here you are confusing macro with micro. Overall of course football is very important in the SEC and fans are extremely passionate. But let’s not pretend that our own fans don’t tune out when we are out of every thing and playing for a 2nd tier bowl

I know a few guys with votes from various newspapers that all voted for Daniels. It makes sense the Seattle Times would vote for their own guy, I get it.

This writer is just writing to appease its readers who are Seattle-ites and lots of UW alumns...why are people taking this personally? Of course they're going to pump up their guy.

Funny thing is the “nothing on the line” would not apply if the 12 team playoff was set for this year. While we wouldn’t have made it we would have been in the hurt til the end

Daniels made numerous big plays and game-changing plays - explosive plays - during the season.. so close too against ole miss AND despite the score when knocked out of the bama game by dallas turner he might have made all the difference.

Nix and Penix’s Heisman moments are few and far between

Daniels didn’t need a Hesiman moment. He did things that his peers were simply not capable of doing.

Same thing with Joe Burrow. He didn’t have a singular Heisman moment. Him and Daniels played their game in a way no one could contend with. Period. frick all this Heisman moment bullshite. He did things no one else could do, because they were simply better. Give Daniels his goddamn Heisman.

Daniels wouldn't have close to his stats if he played in the Pac12 this season. Award should go to Penix, no questions asked.
