I did not understand why we didn’t kick the field goal first and try the onside kick with more time.

I can’t believe we did not kick a field goal and then try the onside kick. Pissed me off

It didn't work, but it's the only chance. You have to try it

I never said it worked and the saints won. I said you have to get the 3 points while you can to save time for a Hail Mary with that short amount of time left if you can recover the onside kick.

Or you can go for a touchdown. if you get that, you only have to gain 20 yards for a field goal if you get the onside.

There is never such a thing as "the only chance".

Is this coming from the same fanbase that dejected O after he went for a field goal when we were getting blanked by Bama 2 years ago?

I can't believe we gave up a 1000 yds of offense to MSU

This is such a ridiculous thing to take away from yesterday.

That was different. We were losing 29-0 and coach O just want some points at the end it but he missed the kick.

Not even remotely comparable.

that was absolutely embarrassing by O down 29-0 to kick a fg to get a moral victory. creampuff central arkansas AM would do that in a week one game against bama.

kicking a fg down 10 is a tactical strategy to keep yourself in game.

You NEED time to score. With 30 seconds left, you're short on time. You have 1 in hand (the FG), you need 2. Going for the TD until there's 10 seconds left makes it harder, as you basically get one play after the onside kick, if you recover.
If you recover with 30 seconds, you have time to make a couple plays, (and with a strong armed QB) you can get it to 1 reasonable chance at the end, not a Hail Mary.

This is correct. Against the clock you always do the hardest thing first and that's scoring the touchdown.

Because we were in a better position to score a touchdown from their 30 yard line than with 20 seconds left starting from much poorer field position after potentially recovering an onside kick.

That's not the point, but not shocking that some can't handle the simple truth that O mismanaged the frick out of the end of the game.
