I know it’s very, very early, but these types of reports have me very concerned.

I’m not saying I want Woodward to make the next hire, but leave it up to the politicians and it will 100% be a f*ck up of epic proportions.

Definitely the Louisiana way.

We need to do this in the least Louisiana way possible. Keep it small and tight. No politics. Benchmark the Saban hiring process, try to duplicate it as best you can, and go get your guy.

I absolutely have no problem with that and I'll be honest with you as a 64-year-old tiger fan myself. I'm tired of the big name splash hires get me some young up-and-comer. I know you're rolling the dice but hell what after I've gone through the last 3 and 1/2 years of the fan, I'd rather roll the dice and and go with up-and-coming coach like John sumrall or Tulane Brent key of Georgia tech. The coach over at University of South Florida then go what we've done the last 3 and 1/2 years and I have no problem with Scott Woodward not being involved with it and people may not like him but I tell you what. I'm glad Jeff Landry had the balls enough to call out what he did about the ticket prices and get involved. And don't tell me the dude doesn't know that LSU is the big dog in the state of Louisiana

Agree with everything here.
I usually don’t like politics interfering with LSU sports, but I definitely do this time.

Yes - if Scott has anything at all to do with the football hire, he needs a very very short leash. He’s 0 for 2 in his last two football hires, and both schools had to contend with huge buyouts. ( I am, however, very grateful for the Jay Johnson hire!)

Simply put, and whether we like it or not is irrelevant, Landry and co. are fully in charge of this coaching hire.

We’re gonna get Omar the Tiger, aren’t we

The AD isn't going to hire the Coach? What is the function of the AD then?

Austin Thomas needs to run point on this, with help from Petito. Woodward needs to be gone by November

I'm not concerned about the hire. I know we will get someone good.

What I AM concerned with and do not want is any more fricking retirement packages given out over 10 years.

Verge hid all the Title IX shite and only got a month off for it. He also is best buds with Fat Scott from when Scott was fooling with politics back in the 90’s I believe. I’ve been calling to get rid of his arse for years because of scheduling.

This has been an off and on thing throughout LSU football history. The Longs and Fast Eddie were all very involved.

And you know who we hired one of the few times that wasn't the case. Nick Saban

I could see a 5-year deal at $5-6 million/year for a coach in his 30s or 40s. Still a shite-ton of money.

that would put LSU somewhere around the 40th-45th highest paid coach in the country.

Roughly what Liberty pays their head coach,

It was Bernhard and his hot-shots at Shaw who brought Saban here.
