Scott seems to think that a high powered offense would have our defense on the field too much and wouldn’t work

3 and outs are essentially the same thing as a fast scoring drive if you're making that statement. And if we're scoring points, our defense doesn't need to be lights out.

Why is there never any middle ground?

High powered offense means putrid defense, winning games 48-47

Putrid offense that struggles to score 24 but top ranked defense.

Lol two things:

1.) if we win EVERY game that way? I wouldn’t GAF

2.) cmon, it wouldn’t be like that at all. Of course there would be some effect, but to act like there’d all of a sudden be NO defense is asinine. These programs he’s modeling this prediction after... how many 4-5 star players do they have on their defense?

Not everyone has received that memo. Having a more explosive and efficient offense automatically equals a Texas Tech style air raid. There's no middle ground. Those are our only two choices: what we're seeing now and Texas Tech.

Nope.

Not sure how more possessions on defense improves them.

it would certainly have some effect but at a certain point you have to realize where CFB is headed and accept there needs to be some give and take.

The SEC is not headed that way. Every SEC champion has had a top notch D. That form of the spread would never work. You have to be able to run the ball

In a positive way, yes

You realize Time of Possession is a tracked stat, and WSU has a better TOP than LSU, meaning their defense is actually on the field less time

Why does this trope keep getting repeated? Is an explosive quick offense that puts points on the board any better than an anemic on that is ranked 86th in the nation in 1st downs per game?

I imagine making a quick strike for points still takes longer than going three and out like we do all too often.

What do you think is more damaging? Being on the field a lot because you have a high powered offense (still on the field longer than a 3 and out), or having your defense get a big turnover and the offense not being able to do anything with it?

Look at Aranda’s background:

Texas Tech
Houston
Hawaii

Read about his Hawaii rush defenses.

To think his defense wouldn’t benefit from a high powered offense is laughable.

Of course this is a BR media member’s take, which isn’t surprising.

Our current offense does our defense no favors by going 3 and out every drive.

It’s like y’all think a Mike Leach offense scores on the first play every time or something

I would be concerned about recruiting if Mike Leach were to come here, but this notion that a high powered offense is a bad thing because muh defense is asinine.

Leach's team runs the ball 28% of the time.

LOL if people think that would work in the SEC
