So let me get this straight. You want to hire a 20 year coaching vet based on his body of work, mainly through throwing the football, only to have him change the same philosophy that makes him stand out I mean, would he be an upgrade? eh. maybe. I could see the argument would it be a smart hire? lol frick no. Focus on someone else

I didn't say change the offense so that's a ridiculous premise. I said tailor. Not pass as much if we have better RBs. Canada (paraphrase): "I will build the offense to match the players' strengths". Every coach does this and builds the offense to exploit the opponents' weaknesses. I sure hope that's what SE is trying to do.

Anyway Leach is just an example based on offensive philosophy. He wouldn't step down from an HC gig to be an OC. There are a lot of SEC coaches now that incorporate some version of uptempo spread. Hell, that's what SE said he was going to do.

why wouldn't he do it now tho?

if that is a winning principle to him. He'd be doing it

Are you serious?

He doesnt have the horses.

His entire scheme was developed to mask weaknesses and take advantage of a lack of talent on the roster. It works even better if you actually have the talent. Hence, Florida under Heart-Attack Man, UGA under Smart, Clemson under Dabo, current Gumps, etc.

Isn't involving more skill guys what LSU fans have been clamoring for, even back to the Jimbo days?
quote:

“I want all of the positions to touch it. There’s nothing balanced about 50% run, 50% pass…that’s just 50% stupid.”

“Now, what is balanced is when you have five skill positions and all five of them are contributing to the offensive effort in a somewhat equal fashion, and that is balanced. But this notion that if you had it off to this one guy 50% of the time and then you throw it to a combination of these two guys the other 50% of the time, that you’re really balanced then you probably pat yourself on the back and tell yourself that, and people have been doing that for decades. Well, you’re delusional.”

A hurry up Spread option team for the most part. No other coach from that tree has had a dual threat like that , especially mike leach. At least off the top of my head.

I don’t think it’s coincidence that Sumlin has been fired

And whats funny about that? You could have told me Sean Payton said that and I wouldve believed you.

Sean Payton and Mike Leach. Unquestionably, the best at producing offense in their respective leagues.

But no. Lets not do what those guys do.

Doesn’t have the horses to run the ball?? Lol is that your take? So let me ask why doesn’t he have the horses, if that is the case (it’s not)

Fixate on someone else. Not someone that is going to need to change his successful offense after 20 years,

YOure too emotional bigj. Sit back and think about what you’re saying. Find a better fit, that’s all. Mike leach wouldn’t even entertain coming to LSU to begin with. Terrible fit more importantly.

I'm not even arguing for Leach because it isn't plausible but your premise is stupid.

Look at the 2 leagues Leach has done well in.Neither has one team with an SEC-like defense in it.

Tim Couch was a 1st team all-American and Heisman finalist at fricking Kentucky with Leach as his OC.

My premise is stupid, but you want a guy to change his philosophy over the last 20 years to fit the conference, knowing he’d have to double his rushing attempts just to get to a balanced medium. Yea dude that makes total sense

In this fantasy land where you just pick coaches a la carte & you fricks want mike leach lol

I think a high flying offense is better for a defense. I don't understand the logic behind "the defense would be hurt with a high flying high scoring offense".

Sure the defense may be on the field for quite awhile if the offense scores quickly.

But isn't this better than going 3 and out and not scoring any points?

The question is, Does Dave Aranda want to work under Mike Leach?

again you're just making things up...This thread isn't even about anyone's top choice as coach.

I'm starting to think you're not just acting stupid

Go write in your diary comparing Burrow to Peyton Manning Lester.

I think he's wrong. What we have now on offense is wearing out the defense by going three-and-out too often against Alabama and other good teams.

It's funny that Alabama's offense, which at times scores quickly, doesn't seem to adversely affect their defense to where it gets totally worn out by the fourth quarter.

I wouldn't want leach's offense, to pass heavy. I'll take Kendall briles, closer to 50/50 and style would line up with LSU talent day 1.

K briles at Houston
Passing att per game 36.9
Rushing att per game 40.6

LSU
Passing att per game 28
Rushing att per game 42.5
