How many times have we heard the school must spend money and market their guy for the Heisman? As it turns out, if you have a great team, and a great player leading that team.....you really don’t have to spend much at all.

Not every year is the same

Also social media and the amount of television attributed to college football has changed.

In the past the marketing campaign was required. Today it is different.

Billboards in Times Square aren't free, don't act like LSU is above this

When did the billboard go up. I thought the voting was over by the time it did. More of a congratulations.

LSU was marketing and pumping Joe all season. Don’t think that didn’t put him in the initial conversation.

LSU spent mega dollars to promote Joe.

Hope we start marketing the basketball program like we do football at some point. It feels like people have forgotten Will Wade is a badass

And that money has paid dividends for the value of the brand.

I’m not saying it was a negative so I don’t know why I’m getting downvoted for stating a fact.

Never think that we are above spending money on billboards at LSU!

You don't think LSU spent money to promote Burrow?

They would've been negligent if they didn't. How often do these opportunities come, and you think they should be cheapskates about it?

Why pass up a golden opportunity to raise LSU's profile?

LSU or the TAF leased billboard space in Times Square. I bet that costs more than I have in my pockets right now.

There was a time in the late '80's that you couldn't go a day anywhere near the LSU campus without seeing a Hodson 4 Heisman poster -

Hodson was about 30 years old in the late 90s.

It’ll pay dividends for the entire University. Bama has made frick you money for the University off the football program in the past 8 years. If LSU can go on a run just half as good it’ll be a windfall for the school.
