Scheme might be an issue, but here is what I noticed after seeing film

- players don't understand leverage on the ball, when tackling, defenders should keep the ball inside and in front at all times.
- team is bad in zone coverage- obviously. Covering the wrong person, not closing to wr's in their zones, lots of bad. Simple route concepts they covered poorly. Some of these players do not understand zone defense, it is either being allowed to happen or not being coached up.
- they are not bad in man, but when you are in man and you miss tackles, it is trouble. Happened to Welch, and Harris both on 3rd down
- Savion Jones was used and abused on that little toss play. No adjustment was ever made by the staff.
- fitting gaps, simple rule for football, is you should never have 2 players in 1 gap. This happens constantly to LSU. Now it could happen for a multitude of reasons, but it happens often to this team.
- Whit Weeks gets it, he understands how to use his hands and how to play the game. Understands how to take on blocks, good player

They also don't understand the ball carrier might head fake left, but then go right.

It is not so much how to tackle, it is maintaining leverage on the ball carrier. As I stated earlier, all defenders should keep the ball inside and in front

i would like to see man 90% the rest of the year. Gamble with blitzes and try to force negative plays and qb hurries or turnovers.

The worst part is, the majority of things listed, have been happening. Week in and week out, either the message isn't getting through, or, they are getting the wrong message.

Probably not pee wee, but should be in hs. Honestly though, I bet most of the guys had bad to poor hs coaching.

It's called breaking down in open field tackling. It is one of the most important techniques and is also the toughest to teach. If you are wide and pumping your feet once you get within 5 yard you can get juked either way. That is a fundamental that I don't see in a lot of players college or pro. weeks does it. A lot of our DB's from last year did it.

It is poor coaching! With the lack of adjustments and the lack of fundamentals there is no other excuse

Tackling isn’t some one and done thing. You have to get live reps so your technique is solid when you’re going against the other team. We tackle really high in addition to losing leverage which is just lazy and poor form. Teams including the NFL are doing less live contact in practice and it shows up in crappy tackling on game day. As soft as our defense is they need some live reps in a bad way.

I'm sure that this team shows the same form on the field as they do running drills against tackling dummies. I recall some of the highlights from Fall Camp. The tackling drills had them leaving their feet and diving at a tackling dummy.

It’s 100% coaching. An undisciplined team falls on the coaches.
