Its the Les Miles, (Mett/OBJ/Landry/Hill) year all over gain. Incredible offense, tissue paper defense.

Savion Jones was used and abused on that little toss play. No adjustment was ever made by the staff.
of all the maddening shite this was the most unforgivable in my view. This should be corrected after 1 play.

correct. These are spring ball issues. Not game 5. It’s crazy we still get the “doesn’t know x yet” bull crap

In all seriousness, do you think I can come on here and say this? All sorts of people get access to films from all schools, not just LSU, NFL film too.

LSU Freshman LB Whit Weeks was relegated to the bench until the Tigers' defense had already allowed 28 points. Speaking of the RB for Ole Miss, I just went back through the LSU VS OM film, and also OM VS Bama film. Over 85% of the time the OM back gives you a tell whether it is run or pass. These analysts hopefully picked up on it, when the RB was on the same level as the QB or a little ahead of him, 85% of the time, it was a pass, if the RB was behind the QB, could be pistol, but I mainly mean just not on the same level, most times he was just offset, it was a run. I know they do, I know they look at these things, I hope they do, and they are many others things they have access to, but this is the kind of stuff that can help an young and or struggling defense. Give them any info that can help them.

Jones can’t run

DBs must be taught to turn around and find the ball and pick it off. All the DBs do this technique of just trying to break up the play with their back to QB on long passes. Man up and go get the ball.

The Defence was just as bad with Whit Weeks on the field. Nothing changed. I like him, but as a whole we were just as bad.

If your going to say Gap, I’m thinking of thigh gap on the cheerleaders and the drop muff.

Agreed, and I've seen this all season long across college football, not just LSU. Defenses are really poorly coached these days.

- they are not bad in man, but when you are in man and you miss tackles, it is trouble. Happened to Welch, and Harris both on 3rd down

I think LSU's corners are better suited to play man than zone. I know a lot of people disagree with me and that's fine, but there is enough length and athleticism to play man, they just need to get more physical and have a short memory when they get beat. I've seen them make good plays on the ball when playing man, the bigger issue is the lack of safety help and lack of pass rush IMO.

Yes, and I can't even be mad at Savion, that's a complete failure in coaching.

- Whit Weeks gets it, he understands how to use his hands and how to play the game. Understands how to take on blocks, good player

He was the best player on defense against Ole Miss and maybe the only guy out there who looked like he cared at times.

Lots of good, thoughtful comments about our defense and tackling. Yes, tackling technique can be taught. But, a lot of the tackling problems appear that players DO NOT want to tackle!! When the ball carrier breaks the line or when a receiver makes a catch, it looks like several on our defense really shy away from attacking the runner. It looks like some are just waiting on others to make the play.

Just my thoughts.

Scheme and lack of adjustments may be part of the problem but not tackling is a "desire" issue. I can assure you that they have been taught, at LSU how to leverage and tackle, which includes shoulder pads and wrapping up. They CHOOSE NOT TO DO IT probably because they are fearful of being hurt. Don't blame coaches when they have taught the technique mamy times. And the problem then is, if you don't do it the way we taught you, you will watch from the bench. But they don't have enough depth to do that in too many cases. More top

fitting gaps, simple rule for football, is you should never have 2 players in 1 gap. This happens constantly to LSU.
