But if you watch, 2-4 are not on him IMO. The COMP % is up significantly. The INT look bad, but I digress

He needs to quit turning the ball over every game

Yup. He’s getting better but still making too many big mistakes.

People tend to forget them because we’re always either winning or still in the game at the end.

But Sam has got to be better about not turning it over.

Mississippi State does not have a good pass defense or pass rush. We really need him to get in a rhythm in the passing game before the rest of our schedule.

SEC ranks out of 16 teams:

TFL - 14th
Sacks - 12th
INTs - 16th
Passing YPG Allowed -15th
Opponent QBR -13th

10 TD to 8 INT is pretty bad though. I'm honestly skeptical if i can fix that aspect this year or ever. I don't see Lane telling him kick rocks if he decides he wants to come back but I highly doubt he gets drafted. So does he have a Burrow, and the other that shall not be named, type year 2 where he blows up.

The only QB in the FBS to throw an interception in every game this season...

2 dropped td's against mcneese in 1st half, more if i watch the tape

3-4 of the picks if you watch the tape are not bad throws. Receivers fault, tipped, and or PI not called

2024 SL was 29 and 6 with rushing touchdowns.

17-8 in 2026 is what I would call regression. Can he correct that? Who knows.

He’s going to correct that and will be a top 3 QB in the league by year’s end IMO.

Good stuff. Are you going to go back and watch every single QB’s games and do the the same so you can get an accurate comparison?

Let’s also remember that he is playing in a new system, with new personnel, and had very little practice before the season due to injury

Eye test wise he is significantly improving in the pass game, anyone that thinks otherwise isn't watching. His accuracy in particular has been great.

If, and its a big if so far, but if he can cut down the turnovers he can be really fricking good.

He is staying in the pocket and throwing the ball way better and more accurately. He has had some beautiful passes. Yeah, he had an interception, but it was bad luck off of a tip. It was just overthrown.

However, that fumble can't happen. Was completely careless and even when he runs at times, he is too careless with how he hold the ball.

If he can cut out the fumble-type plays and play like he played, then we'll have a really good QB.

I can live with the INT. It was a bad throw, but that happens. It wasn't like he read the defense wrong. He went with the right read and flubbed the throw.

The fumble is unforgivable and came at a crucial point in the game. While Kentucky didn't score on that drive, it took the ball out of LSU’s hands.

Regardless if they are Sam's fault, 8 interceptions is too many for the offensive unit.

It’s not great, but there’s some context that needs to be added. Without Trey’Dez, we have been terrible passing inside the red zone. Our WRs are just not big enough to get off the line and win 50/50 balls when the field shrinks inside the 20. We can’t run the ball very well inside the 20 either. It’s why we’re so bad inside the red zone overall in scoring %. But we are good—enough—inside the 5. Which is where Sam’s feet are a great weapon. But to keep him healthy, we’ve run a lot of direct snaps to Jones or Geralds, and put in Clark to score and take the hits. Sam could easily have another 5 rushing TDs.

And if we had Trey’Dez, probably another 5 TD passes. At least. He’d help us get down there more, he’d finish off explosives in the end zone more (our explosives almost never wind up in TDs currently), he’d turn 50/50 balls into 75/25 ones, and when he gets all the attention, it opens up other guys. We’d just be so much better overall, but especially inside the 20. The interceptions are bad. Way too high this early. But the TD to Int. ratio is skewed. I don’t know that he’d have less interceptions, but he’d definitely have significantly more touchdowns than he does with Trey out there.

This is where people like you just suck. As posters and as fans. Sam is obviously getting better and more accurate passing. And dude is putting his body on the line as much as any LSU QB I can remember. He plays hurt. Dude is a warrior, despite getting paid $3 million +. He should be revered with the effort he plays with. But because his TD/Int. ratio is too close 6 games into the season, you’ve already written him off. Hell, a lot of you assholes wrote him off after the 1st half of the Tech game. And no matter what he does, how well or hard he plays, you’ll never get over it and always hate him. Or never embrace him. Which, to me, is absurd. He could finish with 20 TDs and 9 interceptions, but because he was once at 10:8, you’ll never get over it. That’s on you and your ilk, not Sam.
