CBS SPORTS LINK

One of the biggest coaches in CFB claims they need a whopping 13MM a year just to keep these kids from bolting.

I don’t think we have the $$ OSU has, but I’m sure Woody will do what he has to to raise funds. What do you think our annual budget for retaining players will be?

The article isn’t clear, but I am assuming since NIL used for recruiting isn’t technically legal; there is an unsaid amount of money on top of that 13MM that OSU requires as well.

They came up with more than that to get rid of O

If it keeps going like it is they’ll just have to shift money away from TAF to cover this.

It will be interesting in 3-4 years when some of these boosters aren’t seeing a ROI on their “investments”. I don’t foresee some continuing to pay upwards of $15m yearly for a team to go 8-4 or 9-3.

Money will probably shift away from things like facilities upgrades etc. Which I'm fine with

I get that but isn’t that money come on a schedule? They didn’t cut O a 17MM check.

This article insinuates he needs 13MM every year to cover NIL costs. This can’t be sustainable.

Are the coaches getting worried that this might cut into their piece of the pie?

Ok...bolt...there is only so many schools that will pay and they even have their limits when it comes to rosters and what they will pay...the portal is filled with players who thought they were going to get playing time as well as money from somewhere else and fricked themselves and are stuck in the portal with no teams and unable to go back to their former teams...eventually the players will have to choose a school and play with whatever amount is offered if they have asperations of playing in the NFL...

Just another aspect of this trend that will continue to diminish fan interest. Sad.

again, it is still not allowable for universities to pay for athletes.

Companies can pay athletes for their name, image, and likeness.

So LSU wont be funneling money to companies for NIL deals, companies have to pay that

What makes you think LSU will be going 8-4 or 9-3 in 3-4 years? I highly doubt Kelly will have us in the dumps like that 3-4 years down the road

Stop sending 40B to Ukraine.
Send it to SEC and make football great again.

Not sure I'm willing to pay for season tickets to be doubled or tripled over the next few years.

Guidelines, need guidelines that prevent these kind of contracts or tampering. Wild wild west out there.

I hope zero. I would rather disband the program.
