...the University of Houston Cougars. Just got word today that an LSU-UH series is in the works, and it'd go as follows:(assuming a series start date of 2010)

2010:LSU
2011:UH (@ Reliant)
2012:LSU
2013:UH (@ Reliant)
2014:LSU

There are a couple of problems w/ this story, though--UH would have a ridiculous looking (on paper) out of conference schedule in 2010: at LSU, at UCLA, and at Tx Tech.

Also, if you convert the UH game in 2011 from an LSU home game to a game at Reliant, that leaves you w/ only 5 home games on the schedule (not that it's impossible to sort things out to get more home opponents for 2011).

Yes, it's not a BCS opponent, but it's what I'd call a respectable CUSA opponent that's nearly at the level of a TCU.

What's interesting about this, to me, is that I got this from a friend who has reasonably good connections on the UH side, so it's not some LSU fan trying to connect some of the dots ("LSU wants a neutral site game in Houston", "they need one more home opponent in 2010") we've seen discussed here in recent weeks. Also, it makes sense if you believe that Alleva wants out of that Tulane series, about which we've heard much speculation recently.

Again, it's not a BCS opponent, but if LSU really wants to play 2 games in Houston over the next 5 years...well, it's better than playing Rice, I guess.

If we are going to go non-BCS lets grab a team out of the Mountain West or certain teams from the WAC. Boise St., Fresno State, Nevada, Utah, BYU or TCU.

Fixed it, hit submit too quickly.

Hey, it's not often that I get to post a potential "scoop" here on the Rant. Got an itchy trigger finger, I guess.

I think you are missing the point, three home games in five years and two games in the recruiting talent rich Houston area. The matchup looks smart to me.

If we do this it will be about recruiting as much as competition IMHO. If you throw in that angle and the Tigers play 2 great games in Houston it could be very profitable.

I hope to God that LSU plays UH in Houston. Just a short little car ride from Austin.

Not flipping out, just tired of conference USA. The Tulane contract was a joke and Houston is not a whole lot better. Pick up TCU then. They are more respectable and it still puts you in Texas. Maybe not Houston but it is Texas exposure. You could even play a nuetral site in Houston or play their home games at the new Cowboys facility.

Yep, yep.

Being able to tell kids who have grown up in Houston and have dreamed of playing in a big-time stadium like Reliant that they'll get to play in that stadium would be nice...plus you can get kids from Austin (2.5 hr drive), San Antonio (3 hr drive), Dallas (3.5 hr drive) to come and see LSU play in person without having to host them on a visit in BR.

There's a natural vacuum here in Texas right now because A&M sucks balls. Very smart of LSU to continue to build on the advantage they have in Texas right now, which is what they'd do if they played here even every other year (see Sooners, Oklahoma for an example of how effective having a regular game in Texas can be for recruiting).

Houston and TCU both use to be in the Southwest Conference, I have no problems playing either one of them...

Tulane is a CUSA opponent. I don't see the upgrade.

Houston is better than tulane.

The main point of this series would be the TX exposure.

Some tards are happy with nothing. We play some light OOC anyway so why not play in Houston?

I like it.
