Currently ST coach in Green Bay. Orgeron has said he wants the best staff out there along with best recruiters. Zook is one of the best recruiters out there and great defensive coach. Thoughts?

* Im sure there will be those that say he was a horrible coach at Florida but we dont want him for a HC, he would be a STC. W/L record at Florida doesnt matter here. Its his recruiting ability and we all saw how stacked Floridas teams were when Urban took over.

No idea but he's done it before. Guess it depends on how much he loves recruiting.

Get Joe Robinson back. LSU punt coverage gave up 22 inches per return under his watch.

Ron Zook's reputation as a recruiter is baffling. He was touted as that when at the University of Florida, a major school smack dab in the middle of a state full of top prospects year in and year out. Even so, his best season there was 7-4, and he had lot of player discipline issues that led to his firing.

I was working in Illinois when the Illini hired him and they bought the great recruiter bit hook, line and sinker. Didn't pan out that way. In 7 years there, Zook only won 40% of his games, only had two years with a record over .500, and never less than four losses. He couldn't even recruit well within his own state, never signing more than 2 of the top 40 prospects in any year. Schools such as Northern Illinois and Indiana came in to get more than that some years.

Research it yourself, but Zook isn't much of a coach or recruiter. We can do better.

Hmmmm. There are those who say O was a horrible coach at Ole Miss, but we DO want him for a head coach. Well, look what the cat dragged in....

I'm in.

Zook became a punchline as HC at Florida, but he is STILL a damn good recruiter and coordinator. Anywhere at anytime.

I'll take it.

FRom what I recall of Zook at Florida, he seems like a good fit.

1. He is definitely a great recruiter.

2. He has ties to Louisiana. Wasn't he on the Saints staff when Foley hired him at Florida (after missing on Stoops and Shanahan)?

3. And, he can talk as fast and frenetically as Coach Orgeron can. They could have a 30 minute meeting in 5 minutes.
