I was up in Atlanta, they use to have an All-Star Game, Florida vs Georgia. Ro was playing that day, he did much of the same he did at LSU. Stood tall in the pocket, hit his receivers, made all the throws. Their problem, the Florida team didn't have any good WR's, way too many drops. From that day, I knew we had a good QB. I did have on my P&G, so many around me were saying the same thing, "Looks like y'all got a very good QB!"
He still loves the Tigers.

Rohan was the man, but no.

Solid QB. But no and it’s not even close.

Imma say no he doesn't and then ask why do you think so?

Was this the game Rohan mustered up a comeback, and LSU hit a fg that barely crossed for the win?
nah, we played Tennis 3 times while Ro was here.
Overtime game in 2000 (Robert Royal TD, Damian James bat down on 4th down for the win)
Loss in Knoxville in '01.
SEC CG in '01 where Mauck came off the bench and ran all over them.

Love Rohan but no. Retiring jerseys is reserved for the best of the best. Again I love Rohan and was one of the most exciting seasons in '01 but he does not deserve to have his jersey retired.

Number retired………no.
But, our football hall of fame is pretty lacking. There’s been some amazing players who deserve to be in.

Only LSU player in the last 40+ years that should even be considered getting their jersey retired is Joe Burrow.
Well, except for that guy who just won the Heisman for LSU. Like Burrow, Daniels was only here for two seasons. In two LESS games, Daniels accounted for more TDs and almost as many total yards as Burrow. I think you could make the argument that from a purely individual standpoint Daniels had as good, maybe better, an LSU career as Burrow.
I know your counterargument will be that Daniels doesn't have the championship. And you're right. But that is almost solely due to him having to play on a team with one of the worst defenses in the 100+ year history of LSU football. Give Daniels even the relatively average 2019 LSU defense last season and LSU likely wins the championship.
Point being, a number retirement celebrates individual achievement. So if Burrow is considered (and he should be) so should Daniels.

I remember watching that on TV and also feeling good about Ro's future at LSU.
The real standout to me though: Jamal Lewis
He was on the GA team and was just ridiculous. It was like a man amongst boys. The FL team didn't seem to be able to tackle him, only move him toward the sideline and hope they could get him to step out.

Which is why I would stop with the retiring numbers. Many more Heisman QBs to come. Don't take away all the single digits.

one could make an argument that Rohan got the second glory days of LSU football started
One could make an argument that his offensive guard got it started. Both are very dumb arguments.

Yep, the other in that game, Sebastian Janikowski. He was the kicker and punter for the Florida team. His first punt, the sound of his foot hitting the ball. The return man raised his hand for a fair catch. When the ball came down, it was only about 5 to 10 yards from the line of scrimmage.
Both he and Jamal would go in the first round of the NFL Draft after that.

The boy had a rap sheet a mile long. Another note: Only 1,093 college football players and 233 coaches have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Now, wide receiver Peter Warrick and kicker Sebastian Janikowski have an opportunity to join them when the official announcement is made early next year.

indeed, from all accounts he was a true tPOS, seems like he got out of some pretty serious charges right before he left the Criminoles, rape? I can't recall but back then it smacked of a buyout/cover-up a la Urban Myer/Aaron Hernandez

Retired - no.
His image put in the qb room on the wall with the rest of the greats?
