I don't know why that would be a knock against Shaq. Particularly when the majority of his notable accomplishments (championships, finals MVP, ROY, league MVP, scoring champ) all came within the first 11 years of his career: 1993 - 2003. Shaq hung around and got fat in the latter part of his career. But in his first decade he was as dominant a player as anyone not named Michael Jordan

It also doesn't take anything away from what Petit accomplished. He was a great player

His name is forever immortalized in Baton Rouge lore as the namesake of the main thoroughfare through Tigerland.

I don't know if anyone on that 1958 National Championship football team is still alive.

I may get downvoted but you could make an argument that Bob was the most accomplished LSU athlete of all time. He is in the same class as Shaq, Pistol Pete and Mondo Duplantis.
