Where did this rumor come from? He had a great season and is set as a starter next year.

The rumor of him leaving? It was from his own camp, he wasn't "Feeling the vibe" in BR or whatever, covid has really sucked. Ohio State was basically recruiting him right off our roster, they've never stopped talking to him since he signed to go there instead.
Ricks and family met with O multiple times recently to talk about leaving.

Don't know about that, but I can almost guarantee that the first thing Jones did after signing the contract was call up Ricks and Stingley.

It was foolish to begin with. The best thing for a CB is to have another great CB on the other side.

Impossible to know, Ricks is has a bit of a drama queen/attention seeker feel to him so he could feel good today and bad tomorrow. I doubt this is the last we've heard of Rick and thinking of leaving - despite it literally making no sense given his situation (family moved here, covid sucks everywhere, top defensive player already as starter, etc).
There's rumors also he is serving a suspension for weed, cant tell if that's true or not, but some people are running with that and that's also a reason he doesnt want to stick around.
