The NCAA tournament is a worse occasion when Alex Box isn’t hosting.

lol at ECU hosting

They’ve hosted a regional for like 5 of the last 6 years, had a strong season similarly to the seasons they’ve had during the run, and were like 5-1 against other regional hosts this year.

An average college baseball fan knows how good a program they have.

Arizona as 16th seed… frick all that.

The order listed is not the seeding but I do expect Arizona will be the 16th seed. As I understand it, the seeding of the #2s and beyond is not based on the host ranking.

There are lots of good programs that didn’t have a good enough year to host. They won two midweek games against NC St and took 2 of 3 from UNC early in the season. That’s a fairly slim justification for hosting for a team with the #22 RPI and #29 KPI. They also got swept by Tulane late in the year and crashed out of their conference tournament. There is no consistent metric that puts ECU in the Top 16.

Maybe, maybe not. They had a chance to send Arizona here last year and didn’t.

Oregon St, ECU, or UCSB are more likely to be #16.

Looks like ncaa is not gonna adhere to rpi only
Expect some more weird pairings during show tomorrow

I’d be sweating if I’m bama or Florida right now

ECU’s best pitcher (Yesavage) is questionable too. Was hospitalized like 5 days ago with a collapsed lung.

How does a 31 RPI team (Arizona ) host?

Because they won the PAC 12. RPI is not the only criterion.

There are lots of storyline pairings: Tommy Tanks back at NCSt, CJJ return to Zona, LSU visiting former LSU asst at ECU. With that being said, the committee isn’t making a decision based on storyline.

Perhaps one metric: Having their AD on the committee. That usually helps, as long as its not Eric Hyman.

I see LSU getting sent to Corvallis. Oregon State has maybe the best player in the sport. LSU is the most historic program ever. The talking heads love storylines.

The committee gives so much leeway to the west coast. There is no difference in flying from Eugene to Phoenix or Eugene to Florida. Hotels are even cheaper in Florida. Man the frick up and go play some teams in the preseason. They just keep getting the ‘their rpi is bad because there are less good teams around them’ break. Show the frick up and play people.
