This team is so jacked. The thread earlier in the week listing all the transfers out along with their stats at their new schools was eye opening. CJJ made a tremendous overhaul of the roster for this season.
Not bagging on them in any way, looking for opportunities for improvement. Too many runners LOB. So many more runs to be had there.
ARK started too many innings with leadoff batters getting on base. Between hits and walks they probably started most innings that way.
Again, super excited about this team.

Little isn’t the starter you predicted.
Huh?
I must have posted 100x this offseason I thought Little should be a RP.
You have me confused with someone else. As you think I hate Dugas too, for whatever silly reason.

Jay needs to be more aggressive in manufacturing runs against Friday night starters where runs are very limited. He had a couple of opportunities to bunt and get runners in scoring position. Ark did a good job of that Friday night.

Yeah. No PH or changes in that game was odd.

He was 3 for 11 2 runs 2 RBI 2BB 4 Ks not great but not awful. Jobert not near as bad on defense as you make out
Since his HR vs Samford on Saturday he’s 3-15 with 3 singles.
Before that HR he was on an 0-17 stretch.
Overall he’s 5 for his last 35. He just has not been getting it done.

And again yesterday on a ball off the wall that he horribly misplayed. That doesn’t favor in the fly balls that he was completely uncomfortable trying to catch.

I agree with you on Hurd and Little. Hurd seems off just a little and Little showed signs of the pressure bothering him some in the third game against aTm, hopefully it’s something short lived. Great assessment on everything else. Oh by the way, Crews keeps exhibiting such high level hitting. Also, White shows an ability to make pitchers pay dearly when they make a mistake on hitting their spots. The guy I’m pulling for the most is Dugas though, he has stuck it out and he is playing really well.

A Hitting update without a full paragraph on what Crews did?
Great stuff otherwise and thank you.

I don’t know what I can say about Crews that hasn’t already be said. Despite the obvious, I love how he owns every hit. If he hits it in the infield he is hauling arse to first base. That type of thing rubs off on the whole team.
On top of that, he does not have a weak zone. That all he hit out 95 at the letters was insane, and reminded me of the ball (97mph FB) he turned around as A freshman off of Skenes. His bay is so quick & twitchy it is unfair.

LSU can't hit lefties! Other than that, they're a good team.

Agree with most, but Little isn't fine. What we're seeing from him so far is the exact same thing he was guilty of at Vanderbilt.
You've got to find a different role for him. Frankly, I think he's your midweek starter. Let him burn up innings against the in-state teams who can't handle his stuff, and save the SEC work for the kids who have the mental makeup for that kind of pressure.
Shores and Edwards are your right-handed bullpen guys, with the need for one more right-hander (Dutton? Collins? Guidry? Bucknam?) to step up and fill it out.
Or if Hurd doesn't buckle down and give you better command as your 3rd starter, you're going to have to cannibalize Shores for that and then hope Hurd can work out his issues from the bullpen.
What is good is that now you have three left-handers in the bullpen in Ackenhausen, Herring and Cooper who can all be effective and can throw multiple innings.
Offensively, it's real. He's got options to burn in that batting order, and a Dugas-Morgan-Crews-White-Beloso top five is going to be so difficult to run through without giving up runs that it'll completely burn up all but the best of pitching staffs. In both SEC series we've played, against two pretty good pitching staffs, only one of the six weekend starters could handle us.
That's going to make a lot of the pitching staff questions go away.

LSU had 8 hits on Friday.
Crews had 3.
Do you know who had the other 5?
Lefties should not work the lsu RH hitters like they did. I believe that will prove to be an anomaly

I just really want to see A.) Edwards get the Sunday starter nod going forward
I don’t like this. You need a BP. Hurd HAS to get it together, and I believe he will. Until he does, he should be the Sunday starter. If you have to pull him in the third inning the BP has time to win the game, especially with Edwards.
If you send Hurd to the BP, then he is going to be relied on to get us through the middle innings when a starter falters, and they will. In that case, if Hurd is off, the game is out of reach.
I want CJJ to keep it like he has it. Edwards in the pen to set us up in game one or two if necessary, and if not, then carry us through the middle innings of game three. Gradually, I think we’ll see Hurd get it together and start giving us five or six quality innings on a Sunday.
BTW< Thanks again for the rundown, Lester.

part of being a coach is putting your players in winning positions. If he isn't comfortable doing that (and i am just speculating) then they will find someone who is, and use Little in a way that maximizes his great talent.
Like you I noticed Little’s issues coming in during an inning especially with runners on base. It looks as if he loses 2-3 mph off his fastball in the stretch and his command is not as sharp. Nerves? Slide step? Worried about runners?

The word 'fine' is relative but i believe this proves that he is probably best served beginning an inning until further notice. Perhaps he is not built to clean up other people's messes; a tough spot for any pitcher.
Little has inherited 8 runners over 4 Appearances, allowing 6 of the runners to score.
In the innings Little has came into the game with runners on base:
2.2 IP
5 Hits
9 Runs
3 BB
4 K
All other innings pitched by Little:
12.2 IP
6 Hits
16 Ks
3 BB

Good write-up Lester. I love the batting order. Morgan is looking like the stud from last year again. He rarely strikes out, and will move runners whenever Crews/White don't send it over the fence. Also, thrilled that Pearson is coming out of his slump.
The comment from others about us hitting lefties is a little over-used. I think we sometimes struggle against quality pitching more so than just lefties. The Iowa stud was a righty. Our lineup is star studded for sure, but good pitching wins their share of at-bats. Cudos to the AR pitchers that held their own. We proved we are too good to keep down for long.
Crews came into the series at .526 and increased his average against a top 5 team! Crazy!
I agree with those saying give Hurd a longer leash. His stuff is nasty when he is "on". We all expect to be in Omaha and need quality relief pitching to get there, so let's hope Hurd allows us to keep the bullpen stocked with top quality.

He is also 3 for 3 in scoring runners from 3rd with less than 2 outs. I guess you would rather watch jones swing and miss or kling just hold the bat. I like the way coach is giving everyone a chance. Unless someone catches fire they all going to rotate. You just CHERRY Jobert bad stats

Is Jobert doing enough at the plate to continue to start? I do not think. Furthermore, he is a liability in the field. If he is not hitting, then not sure what you have there.

He didn't give up on the ball on Friday he was playing the line and ran just as far as Crews you did you even watch the game. I must have missed the one he miss played Yesterday off the wall or did he let crews field it because crews had better angle to throw the ball in and keep runners from advancing.
