last year
Has nothing to do with this year. This is LSU and the best players should start regardless. So unless Bras can start knocking the cover off the ball like Reaves has been doing lately then Reaves should be starter going forward.

i think that’s fair to say.
Obviously everything is subject to change and i feel bad for Braswell, but Reaves is hitting to well to sit
I am very happy for Reaves for a while he was super snake but. smashing lazers right at people and getting robbed at the wall.

Me too. Would like to see him start occasionally based on matchup, be a defensive sub, and put into positions at the plate to regain his confidence at the plate.
Whenever someone says stuff like this something unexpected happens, lol. Write off Braswell and then we are relying on him in a few weeks time.

premature...all of this against mediocre pitching...but I digress. We will see very shortly if it's real. We know what Bras can do against SEC pitching..

I think I heard the radio crew last weekend say we'll see three lefty starters against Mizzou and Texas. If that is correct, then expect to see Braswell play some. SEC games will be tighter, so defense is still important.
If I'm wrong about the pitching info, please feel free to correct me.

Missouri has by far the worst pitching in the SEC

Of course this year isn't last year, my comment was for the guy that spoils game threads ,that said, braswell has never been an lsu caliber starter at ss . I think he said he's never been an sec caliber infielder or player.
That's not true. He's just not seeing it well at this moment and Reaves is the better player at this time.braswell would have likely been out of his slump by now if he had gotten more abs. I'm happy with the situation though. We've got three guys that we can put at third who will be good players

I thought Reeves was the best option there from the start, but I understood Jay would want to give his veteran the first crack, and give him every chance to get going. I don't think there's much question that Braswell is the better defender, but it's a simple question you have to ask yourself: Who will provide more net value on the field? Reeves, I believe, will significantly outhit any problems he has on defense, whereas I just don't see it right now with Braswell, where his defense would make up for the lack of offense, especially at a non premium defensive position.
I do realize that Braswell led the team in hitting in SEC play last year. I get that. But he was always kind of a soft line drive, singles hitter, mostly, and I questioned whether or not he could repeat what he did last year. I believe he's absolutely a better hitter than he's shown so far this year, but Reeves, aside from batting average, gives you significantly more extra base potential between the two. So, unless Reeves just falls apart on defense, I don't think it makes sense to take him out of the lineup. It's not like he's playing shortstop, where his defense is ultra crucial, anyway.

Not so fast, he's not a 3B, when SEC play starts them errors at third not going to cut it.

But Braswell with the same number of errors and a batting avg .150 worse than Reaves will cut it?

still have a few that will see SEC pitching for the first time and Reaves is one of them
We haven't heard the last from Braswell

Braswell's errors came at shortstop.
But also, Braswell is very clearly a better fielder than Reaves at 3B and that's not really disputable. He's orders of magnitude better there.
That doesn't mean I'm calling for him to start. But any argument trying to equate the two as fielders is ignorant at best and probably completely disingenuous.

Braswell is not an LSU SEC caliber player plain and simple
He was one of our best players in SEC play last year

Main reason for my upvote.... because you didn't ask someone to "change your mind".

Braswell bat didn’t get hot until SEC play last year.
He also didn't have anybody behind him that could take his spot. This team is much deeper than last years team in all areas of the game.

Braswell was bad for the 1st 3/4 of the year last year.
He had a god month or so late season/post season.
I hope he gets back to that, but realistically, I hope Reaves is the everyday guy.

In defense of Brazzy and/or Larson, it's pretty hard to get themselves(is this even a word?) out of a slump when other guys are playing and they are no longer every day starters(esp Braz). Last year, Jay never pulled Brazzy no matter how much he slumped esp on defense and the kids came on when it counted for the sec/ncaa tourneys. This year, Brazzy has been thrown to the curb pretty much for his Sr season and it looks like Larson has lost all confidence in changing his slump because other guys are playing. Slumps are difficult to get out of when you aren't getting enough at bats.
