It’s a Friday night and you are bitching about playcalling from a game over 20 years ago???

I guess thanks for reminding me that my life isn’t really that bad.

but it’s amazing that we hired a guy with a head coaching record of 19-25.

LSU then wasn’t close to what LSU is now

That 19-25 record was impressive given he was at Vanderbilt for most of not all of it.

If you have never gone on YouTube and re-watched an old game, then I officially question your fandom.

Why? We were a dumpster program in 1994 when Dinardo was hired. We hired a guy with a 16-27 head coaching record when we were an elite program 22 years later.

If only Cecil could have kept his arse out of trouble.

4 games. 72 carries. 596 yards.

That's an average of 18 carries for 149 yards per game (8.3 yards per carry).

And during his short stent with the Miami Dolphins, Head Coach Jimmy Johnson said of Collins, “That kid can flat carry the leather!”

Man I don’t open this thread thinking the OP was just a complain about play calling 27 years ago.

Dinardo’s tenure may have ended differently had we not lost Carl to Texas.

Don’t forget all we needed was a third and short to essentially ice the game. Dinardo chose to pass the ball despite Cecil running through them like goose shite.

Auburn couldn't stop Collins if I remember correctly. He should have had 40 carries that game.

I am dead serious when I post this. I know Cecil only played a handful of games, but he was CLEARLY the most talented RB in LSU history IMO, and we've had A TON of great ones.

It's sad that he was so screwed up in his personal life.

NOT AT ALL excusing his behavior, because breaking into a woman's room and standing over her while she slept and doing "whatever" he was doing during that is ONE BILLION PERCENT WRONG.

But did he ever actually physically hurt anybody? It seems he just had a sick obsession, that obviously had to be (and was) punished pretty harshly.

Exactly. I love Dinardo for that reason alone-- he empathized enough with the LSU fan base to understand the importance of the traditional uniforms to the home team fans, and made the necessary changes.

Whatever deficits Gerry displayed as a head coach, were forgiven thanks to bringing back the traditional home whites. Simply that change alone was good for two additional home wins/ season vs the poison purples.

I had an autographed football on the way to me from that team and coach. I never got it...was stolen through the post office.

He had some success, and he brought back the white jerseys!

He was a below average SEC coach though.
