Ole boy was hungry and ready to graze at the Golden Corral.
Alan Faneca says hello.
Glad I could help. Just so happen to know Jimmy Field’s son.
It was Jimmy Field and Bo Campbell. Verified by Jimmy Field. See message from Jimmy below:
The man on my left was a fine quarter miler (beat me and everyone else in the NORD MEET OF CHAMPIONS IN N.O.)
who ran for Byrd Hi, played HB on the GO Team, and was a good player and person. His name is Bo Campbell.
I do not recognize the others as they must have played at other schools or I would recognize them.
Bo and I spoke at a school in No. LA that night. May have been Jena High.

‘60, ‘61, and ‘62.
Far left - QB Jimmy Field.

The Galley Seafood on Old Metairie Road has some of the best onion rings in town. They’re of the thick variety.

59-0, Shreveport.
re: Iron fitting.

LSUfreak1459, it sounds like you went with the Callaway Elytes over the Ping 440s. Is that correct?
And who is the teacher/fitter who helped you decide? I’m looking for a fitter right now, and those are the two main irons I’m considering.

Thanks for responding, gplayerjr. I’m 59-years-old and have never been fitted. I’m in Baton Rouge, so I’m thinking of going to the local GOLFTEC.
Sounds like you really liked your fitting. I travel for work, so I can get fitted pretty much anywhere in Louisiana or Texas. Who did you go to for yours?

I’ve been looking at the TM 790’s but am wondering if I need a more player-friendly set of irons.
I am a 16 handicap with 20 year-old clubs. Mind if I ask your handicap?

As geauxpurple said, Mr. B’s for gumbo. It’s outstanding!
re: When eating Boudin, do you suck the stuffing out the casing or eat the casing?

I suck the stuffing out, spit it into the garbage, and then eat the casing.
Thanks for the advice. Probably would be best to go ahead and get fitted.
I’m most interested in PXG and Calloway. Thanks again.

Paging Bopper - new clubs

Got some cash for Christmas and am ready to upgrade all clubs. Bopper, you are the closest this board has to a golf club aficionado.
What would you recommend for a 59-year-old with average swing speed? I’d like to get graphite shafts in my irons for the first time. I’m sitting at an 18-20 handicap index right now, while 20 years ago I was a 10.
I don’t mind spending the money for nice irons and woods; I just don’t want to have to do it again in 5 years.
What would you put me in? Should I get fitted? I never have before. Incidentally, I’m 5’ 11” and 185 lbs.

On that subject, where are the best places to sell used clubs? I’m looking to upgrade from 15-year- old Calloway irons.
Mr. John’s Steakhouse on St. Charles. One of my go-to restaurants when in New Orleans.
I have attended many sheriffs' sales in my past.
One thing that I would suggest is to do some significant prework. You'll need to determine what is owed on the property: mortgage amount plus fees/costs. The best you're going to do is to buy it for one dollar over that total figure. People who I witnessed successfully buy several properties would start the bidding at that number, which would sometimes surprise and freeze other bidders.
Most people are hoping/thinking they can "steal" a property. It's hard, if not impossible, to get a really good deal, however.

And during his short stent with the Miami Dolphins, Head Coach Jimmy Johnson said of Collins, “That kid can flat carry the leather!”
