IMHO Pulmonary wouldn’t have done any better or worse.

Had I told you before the season started Hilliard would end up being our most reliable pitcher you would have said then our record will probably be _____ ?

B-

The fact he took this pitching staff to where he did is amazing in itself.

Now. The defensive issues I think he absolutely has to take some criticism for. The errors, passed balls, catcher simply not catching, is inexcusable.

I rate the season as solid. Not great but in hindsight could have been worse

B+ for what he had to work with. I'll judge him after 3 years

I guess I’d give him a C.

Probably right based on inflated preseason/early season expectations but the evidence was there early that pitching would be iffy and fielding needed to improve.

I think in hindsight, a realistic assessment would have meant slightly lower expectations and I would probably say he deserves a B- or even a B.

The team never put a consistent run together.

Goals:

1. Host A Regional
2. Win a Regional
3 Win a Super
4. Win a Championship

We should expect 1 every year, the next one we should expect most years, and we should at least make it to Omaha every other year.

This year was wasted.

Solid B

Got to recognize how big bringing in Berry, Reyz and Cooper was for us. I try not to think about how trash we would have been without them. Maneiri really had the team in bad shape.

His history says this is the type of hitting we should expect from his teams. If he can figure out how to recruit/develop/manage a competent pitching staff, we’ll be very good most years

I was impressed with Johnson’s first season. He got the most out of the pitchers that he had. Hilliard is good but I don’t believe anyone will say he is a true Friday night starter. He’s tough and I’ve enjoyed watching him play but he doesn’t have as many wins if Johnson doesn’t string together the bullpen the way that he did. Our defense was no where near where it should be. This has to get better. I watched probably 95% of our games this year and most of the errors that I saw were the players’ fault. Routine plays should be made by the players and when they’re not, you can’t blame the coach because he’s not playing the game. I believe Johnson accepted the fact that his defense was going to give up runs but he took his chances with outscoring teams with our hitting. I think the best is yet to come from Johnson. Geaux Tigers!

What if Maineiri came back and so did Marceaux? We can play this game all day.

What if Dunn got Fontenot to be the All American he was in 2020. What if Maineiri worked the portal and found 1 more pitcher?

This year sucked. We saw two generational talents get wasted and Jay Johnson hopefully learned he is gonna have to learn to run bases and field at a high level to win.

B, pitching was suspect due to PM; infield was substandard; but offense was good

Blake Money was our ace for most of the season. It's amazing we were over .500 this year.

Objectively…

High expectations. This is LSU baseball. Media had us Top 5 preseason. Everyone knew we had questions with pitching staff. Nobody thought the defensive fielding would be so terrible.

Offense - B -
Pitching - C - he overachieved here
Fielding - D
Overall - C-

The errors in the field cost them several games which likely makes this team host

Ok, let’s play that out for a sec.

This same team plus Marceaux and serviceable Fontenot (who has always had control problems btw). Minus Berry, Cooper, Reyz and Collins. How good is that team?

Depends who is coaching them. Maineiri had that team in the Supers.
