Currently watching Troy vs JMU.

We played them 3 times…

2004: We won 24-20

2008: We won 40-31 (was down 31-3)

2017:

Just a product of playing bad LSU teams or?

The same reason you asked the question. Teams looking at the name on the helmet instead of the dudes on the field.

I went to that game and stayed to the very end (because I stay to the end of every game no matter what). It was something I will never forget - watching Troy fans heckle LSU fans while they left their own stadium early. They pointed, laughing at us

2004, year after a natty, qb issues, unsettled depth chart, game not taken seriously
2008, year after a natty, qb issues, unsettled depth chart, game not taken seriously
2017, Ed O squabbling with Matt Canada and meddling with Aranda, rb goes off for 190 yards, Troy was a damn good football team

Cause of where we nornsllly schedule them. It’s been SEC games, typically, by that point and it’s nothing scientific — they’re not up to play Troy. Or Rice. Or Arkansas State. Or Utah State.

If we opened with Troy, it might be different. If we played a Troy that was 8-0/9-0 when we played them and got some buzz, it might be different.

Nobody gets up for Troy when Alabama and Ole Miss are weeks away, e.g.

Admittedly, I left at halftime in 08. Know many who stayed. ‘04 was yawn of a game.

Went to the 2008 game with my dad(RIP). I remember it being miserably cold. We left early and watched the rest of the game at chimes. We started the come back as we were walking through the parking lot. Core memory as a 12 year old.

We've only ever played them wearing purples. If they're ever on our schedule in the future, let's do gold-white-gold and see if we don't have a more favorable outcome

I remember lsu needed trickery in 04, movie gallery stadium.world headquarters was in dothan.troy was troy state not long before.won titles in div 2 and leaped to div 1 couple years b4 lsu played them.I think because we played them in troy and the proram was up and coming, saban didnt beat them to death.another thing, everyone knew he was leaving.his last game losing with a hail mary was a bad look.i think the loss early on to auburn was when he was really thinking about leaving

Do people really think that a talent disparity just means an automatic win?

Have any of you ever played sports?

It took a late 4th quarter touchdown pass to an obscure tight end to win that game.

We never played Troy in Movie Gallery Stadium. Only in Tiger Stadium, for all three appearances.

Now IIRC Missouri DID play a game in Movie Gallery Stadium in 2004, and LOST to the Trojans! The winning Troy TD was scored somehow by an offensive lineman who rumbled 60+ yards with a fumble.

Looking at the schedules they might have just caught us at the right time. Looking ahead or after a big game, etc.
