Random Friday afternoon post but let me throw this out there…

Home and Home with Virginia Tech. I know they’re not good right now but they’re a very prideful fan base with a solid stadium and a cool college town. I’d bet the bank that if top 5 LSU came to town it would be a mad house. So many tiger fans would travel for it too.

One of those home and homes where records don’t matter. It’s two prideful fan bases that love the game.

Did this in 02 with the return trip in 07

If there’s on noncon home and home I want, it’s Michigan. Never played them before in football and that in itself is a crime

LSU did this already. 2002 and 2007

VT isn't a good enough program or road-trip to repeat it.

It happened in 02/07.

02 was the OG out of conference opponent schedules a last minute week 0 game before they play LSU in week 1.

07 game was a beat down.

I grew up in Lynchburg about 1.5 hrs from Blacksburg. It would be a fun atmosphere and Blacksburg is a great college town.

I remember Keiland Williams taking the pitch out of the pistol formation and hurdling that poor VT kid.

They burned Tyrod Taylor's redshirt that game, I always wondered if Tyrod still had that year of eligibility left in 2011 if they could have ran the table in the ACC and we could have played them instead of Bama for the title. But yet without that game we wouldn't have had head to head over VT in 07 and maybe 1 loss VT plays Ohio St instead of us. There's a weird butterfly effect that game caused.

I was in the south endzone. Can’t ever forget how the stadium erupted and you knew that team was for real. I just rewatched it like 3 times lol

Would love to get to go see LSU play @ Wisconsin or @ Penn State more than anywhere else.

Previous generations also were lucky to have a reason to go see a game @ Notre Dame.

Beating their arse in 2007 was instrumental in getting LSU into the title game. Virginia Tech finished #3 in the BCS and was the ACC champs.

VT fans are terrible. I grew up in Virginia during the height of their “run” of 0 national titles. Was there at Lane in 02 and I was so pissed off after that game that I needed to find somewhere to vent afterwards and found good ol TD because of that game. Was a junior in college when we whooped their arse in 07 , 48-7. Keiland Williams destroyed them and I stayed until the clock read 0:00. That and the D Byrd catch against Auburn are probably my two favorite games at Tiger Stadium.

Just an absolute clinic and beat down of a great VT team. That game ushered in the Tyrod Taylor era so they should thank us.

They are going to be mediocre for a long, long time. I almost feel sorry for them. Almost.

Let me throw this out there.

If the SEC were to take two more teams, would VT be up there along with FSU?

07 is still one of if not the most dominant game I’ve ever witnessed at that stadium from a complete team effort on offense, defense and special teams. Va Tech won their conference and ended up number 9 in the country and LSU beat the crap out of them.
That defense was FILTHY.
