I've been watching a lot of archived LSU football TV broadcasts from the '80s and the Tigers were in purple for all their home games back then, and these games included victories over A&M in 1986 and 1990, Notre Dame in 86, Florida in 87, and the 1988 Earthquake Game. The Tigers were in purple at home and winning. Why is there still so much resistance to the classic look of gold pants and headgear, and purple jerseys as the default home uniform?

I kind of like them, flat purple is different
I love our traditional uniforms though and would rather only maybe one game a year have a new uniform color scheme.
For those bitching about it though, you have no power except to bitch behind your keyboard.
The coaches, and team will wear what they want and we can whine, kick or scream all we want

As long as i turn on the TV and can tell who is playing, I'm fine with it. I love the tradition we have, but that isn't what brings in recruits anymore. As long as we stay close to what we have been, i won't mind it much.
Was flipping around one day and found Texas Tech vs Oklahoma State. If i had'nt seen what game I was watching, I wouldn't have even known except for the field. Moreover, I couldn't tell which team was which for the first few minutes. LSU will never be like that, thank god.

cracks me up when knuckleheads rant about "tradition" as if the uni has been the same since ww2. the lsu uniform has changed several times so which "traditional uniform" are you referring to? 
that helmet is awesome. definitely want to see that in a game. anything that emphasizes purple or white and minimizes yellow is ok with me.
