re: DIY Termite Treatment
Posted by nsudemon10 on 4/15/26 at 8:33 pm to Pezzo
Who told you they can’t be done as a combination treatment? That is not correct. The state has a contract strictly for combination treatments. Taurus SC/Termidor is a non-repellant. That is the liquid you want to use. Set the stations just inside/outside of the roofline if possible. Double layer of protection!

I’ve never had to tent formosans. Now people tent dry wood termites. That’s about the only way to get them. Termites swarm out of homes all the time. Not just from the outside. Natives are harmful too but not as aggressive and colonies aren’t as big as Formosans. Both will do damage. The swarmers are looking to mate and start a new colony. Most die in the process because they have to get in ground fast because they are soft bodied insects and they have no hard exoskeleton. The elements will dry them out. Natives and Formosans will get in your walls. Formosans can make a carton nest in the walls though. Make sure you check your home for roof leaks. They can swarm and start an aerial colony and bypass any termite treated home. Aerial infestations aren’t covered in any termite contract. Good luck

Yes. They will cause thousands of dollars in damage. You won’t notice until the damage is done.

re: Best Way to Protect Against Termites
Posted by nsudemon10 on 1/29/26 at 8:11 pm to Bill Parker?
State issued contracts do NOT have a damage warranty. Only a retreat warranty. Too many factors are out of the termite company’s control to warrant a damage guarantee. You could have structural issues in areas that are conducive to attract termites that are out of the termite company’s control. (ie. Cracks under the slab, roof leaks causing an aerial infestation, faulty plumbing, having soil above grade, wood to ground contact, vegetation touching structure, and so on.
Termite companies treat what they can according to the label, and to the best of their ability, but you are never guaranteed 100% protection. They do inspections, refill baits if applicable and also go over with the homeowner conditions conducive to termites. These recommendations are given to the homeowner to correct these actions in order to reduce the chances of termites.
Too many risk factors are out of their control to offer a damage warranty. No termite companies would be in business. Especially for only charging an annual renewal for only $200-$300 a year. After labor and materials you ain’t making much of a profit.
