Prior to CKM, who was the most tactically-gifted HEAD coach currently employed by LSU?

tPear?
Torina?
Brock?

Not talking skins on the wall or total titles or time spent in the sport. I mean who knows their sport the best right now in terms of Xs and Os, and who has the highest ceiling?

I can think of one HC with a recent national championship. All that matters when it’s said and done.

Will Wade is 38yo and is on progress for a remarkable career.

For reference, Coach O was a DL coach for USC at 38yo. Paul Mainieri just took the Notre Dame HC job when he was 38yo.

What tPear has done in his limited time is stellar and that takes a tactically-gifted mindset. From the cellar to NIT, NCAAT, NCAAT (Covid), NCAAT - in 4 years.

Not best.
Which coaches do we have that would be elite (or at least better than average), if you dropped them at, say, a random MAC or Sun Belt school?

I think Wade is the easy answer, he's probably the only one that steals a few games just on coaching. He's had good but flawed teams and has been impressive so far.

I never came close to implying that LSU was getting a death penalty. Anyone with more than 1.5 firing brain cells knows that if there was any smoking gun on Wade it would have surfaced by now. There isn’t and he is my coach, and I think he is the answer to the question but I’d like to get the opinion of those who are more familiar with the technicals of other sports

CPM is the best tactically. But you go on to modify it with “who has the highest ceiling?” Make up your mind. Which question are you asking? If he can stay out of trouble, Wade has a high ceiling, but I don’t think he’s great tactically - just fair.

If LSU gets hit, it will be men's basketball and football that are targeted.

The last time both of those programs were in bad shape, Skip took advantage of the situation and spawned the baseball program everyone loves. Our fanbase wants a winner.

The women's basketball team, in that case, might become the most successful team on campus.

Bertman and Saban are the only two LSU coaches to EVER fit this category. All other LSU titles have been due to absurd sick talent.

Easy. The track coach. He has shaped raw talent into All-American performers and Olympians.
